Holy Fawn - Dimensional Bleed
Jockstrap - I Love You Jennifer B
From Pitchfork: ‘ The full-length debut from the shapeshifting UK duo is a virtuosic display of theatrical mayhem, dazzling production, and surprisingly lustrous pop music’
Sarah Davachi - Two Sisters
Latest drone work from the Canadian organist.
Rosalìa - MOTAMAMI+
Expanded version of one of the albums of the year so far.
Coby Sey - Conduit
Debut from vocalist, musician and DJ from South East London. Hearing good things about this one.
Sudan Archives - Natural Brown Prom Queen
Second album from LA vocalist and violinist. Loved the debut so looking forward to this.
Maybe the biggest release day of the year for me
In addition to Holy Fawn
Afghan Whigs - How Do You Burn?
Built to Spill - When the Wind Forgets Your Name
Fallen so far behind the last few months but I will definitely be checking out the Coby Sey record! Will give Motomami+ a spin too, but not generally a fan of extended releases and thought the original was pretty close to perfect.
Preoccupations
Sampa the Great
Greentea Peng - GREENZONE 108
Second album from London singer. FFO Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Miss Dynamite
High Vis!
There’s a new END EP
End - Gather and mourn
Face melting hardcore
Crippled black phoenix - Bonefire
I dunno. Goth, post punk, prog, metal, hunt saboteurs
It’s 100 minutes long though!
Have been highly anticipating Built to Spill, Preoccupations, and Santigold.
New from ex Factory Floor member Gabe Guernsey
New Bill Baird LP for me and also one from Mani Festo for fans of rave-revival breakbeat.
Jockstrap’s surprisingly wonderful, and the new Preoccupations sounds better on first listen than I’d feared - but the new Afghan Whigs is sensational.
I’ve enjoyed both the comeback albums, but this has something else again. Dulli’s just made from different stuff. I love the guy.
3 from me so far…
The Paranoyds - Talk Talk Talk - LP - Pop Punk
Packed full of pounding pop punk tracks that will hook into your head for the day.
OHMA - Between All Things - LP - Electro Experimental Jazz
Tricky one to describe this. Throbbing bass, light drums, piercing guitar with a smooth topping of flute & sax. Its like Enya recorded a version of Kid A.
Tin-ear - Cadastral Maps - LP - Lo-Fi Indie Pop Punk
I liked the stripped back recording and soft lyrics with a hint of darkness behind it all.
Fuck yeah Jockstrap
Singer Tilly Morris on the cover art… pretty sure she’s Gillian Gilbert’s and Stephen Morris’s daughter.
Beacon - Along the Lethe
Dark/poppy electronica. FFO Tycho, Junior Boys
New worriedaboutsatan featuring The Anchoress
