Certainly my favourite title of the day:
Alice Longyu Gao - Let’s Hope Heteros Fail, Learn and Retire
Experimental hyperpop EP from the Chinese artist based in the US. This is all over the place and I love it.

Brix Smith - Valley of the Dolls
It looks like this got released last week after been pushed back from the previous week. The messing about means I missed it, as did the reviewers: I only noticed it because Loud & Quiet covered it a couple of days ago.
So: Brix Smith, in The Fall during what for me is their best era in the 80s, and more recently of Brix and the Extricated with other ex-Fall members, goes solo. The album’s a kind of grungey pop, “Co-written by ex-Killing Joke bassist and acclaimed producer Martin ‘Youth’ Glover, she describes it as ‘a cross between The Breeders and Hole.’”
Various Artists - Borga Revolution! Ghanaian Dance Music In The Digital Age, 1983-1996 (Volume 2)
The first volume of this was good so expecting to also enjoy this compilation “focussing on the phenomenon of ‘Burger Highlife’, a crossover of West African melodies with synthesizers, disco and boogie that took over Ghanaian airwaves during the 1980’s and beyond.”
The Blaze - Jungle
Poppy house duo from France
misread this as “horse duo”
We had William Prince? Folk with sprinklings of country drums and synths, but it’s all about the lad’s voice. FFO Bill Callahan, NY, Waylon
first volume of this was great
Thought I would like this from the description, but sounds way too much like nü-metal for my tastes.
Nu-metal!
Meet Me @ The Alter - Past // Present // Future
Pop punk is enjoyable.
Cheers. Not sure why my link isn’t working, I copied it in the usual way.
Probably why I’m enjoying it so much
Started listening to Godcaster - Godcaster purely cos I liked the artwork, and it is very good.
FFO Trail of Dead, shamanistic ritual music, Converge maybe? idk. Heavy and meandering and pretentious but in a really good way.
This is really fun.
The Shana Cleveland record is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you!
My playlist has been pretty subdued while I study today, so this is going down a treat now I can crack open a beer and relax.
Heartily endorse this approach to music discovery
The De La Soul back catalogue being released on streaming sites topped our poll last week, with Slowthai in second and Kate NV, Brainwaltzera and Tanukichan tied for third.
What was good for you this week?

Damascenes on the new Dutch Uncles record is a cracking tune but it reminds me so much of Outfit… I miss them so much
This is bloody amazing - AOTM
