Good morning, huge Friday today with lot of big hitters.
Big Thief - Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You
Spoon - Lucifer On The Sofa
Eddie Vedder - Earthlings
Claire Rousay & More Eaze - Never Stop Texting Me
Hyperpop with touch of Midwest emo.
Expecting more gorgeous alt-country from Willie Vlautin & co
Sea Drift by The Delines
So far this is what I’ve been listening to…
Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio - Cold As Weiss - Funk
For any fans of New Orleans funk this will be perfect. Its like all of The Doors organ solos but with none of the waste. =p
No Monster Club - deadbeat effervescent - Alt Pop
Sir Bobby Jukebox can write a catchy tune and here is an album full of them.
Zeal & Ardor
Big Thief, Spoon and Cult of Luna are the big ones… be surprised if I can get to these too
Sea Change - Mutual Dreaming cinematic shoegazy EDM ffo Kelly Lee Owens
Andy Bell - Flicker never listened to any of his solo stuff but Noise Pop is my favourite description on the review I skimmed
New Urge Overkill!
Big Thief on currently. The opening track is something lovely.
Will gravitate to the new Frank Turner later.
Came here to post Sea Change - first listen it’s right up my alley and very interesting.
Similarly dark, dreamy electronic music:
wow wow WOW Big Thief.
Empath - Visitor
“Freak Pop” from Philadelphia
Emilie Zoe - Hello Future Me
Loved her debut a few years ago. Swiss artist. “an innate talent for the guitar and a haunting way of vocalising emotions”
Lotte Kestner - Lost Songs
Her Bluebird Of Happiness album is so beautiful, I’m hoping I’ll love this as much. Dreamy acoustic-ish song. FFO Marissa Nadler
Windmill - Rockaway I See You Called EP
First proper release from him in almost a decade. His voice is like an even more marmite version of Wayne Coyne. This release sounds more melancholic and haunting.
Shamir - Heterosexuality
Lo-fi indie, country, electro-pop.
Benni Hemm Hemm - Benni Hemm Hemm & The Melting Diamond Band II
Four long Icelandic/experimental/jazz-esque kind of tracks.
Yeah just all about Big Thief, Cult of Luna, Voivod and maybe the new Zeal & Ardor for me today.
Also Burial & Four Tet’s ‘Nova/Moth’ is available digitally for the first time.
Theres a new Napalm Death ep.
Spoon vinyl seems to be delayed.
Sorry if these have been mentioned but a few others.
New tegan and sara
Alt-j
Foxes
Adam miller (of chromatics)
Carrie biell (of moon palace)
Dan Andriano & The Bygones (of Alkaline Trio)
Spoon is a very good Spoon album. Gonna go in for Big Thief next. Scared as I have such high expectations.
Then this from Claire Rousay & More Eaze next. Sounds interesting.
Just got Big Thief on, really liked the songs they’ve released so far and the rest isn’t disappointing.
Wondering if I can afford the vinyl as well as buying Andy Bell for someone as a gift (not sure I can listen to a whole 75 mins of music from Andy Bell).
Looks like another quiet new music Friday. Patiently waiting on @Octobadger to see what treats he has haha
Also this Spoon band are quiet big? Literally hadn’t heard of them until about 3/4 months ago. Always freaks me out when a seemingly big band flies completely under my radar!
A couple of different soundtrack pieces compiled by The Havels .
