Sean Nicholas Savage isn’t great :frowning: he’s been off form ever since Bermuda Waterfall, and it was so great :frowning: maybe next year

Nice! Any album with an opening track called, “I’m an Arsehole” is probably worth a listen in my book.

Will be checking this out

I really wanted to like the Kurt and Courtney record to a greater degree. Although, I didn’t particularly like either of the singles. So by the time the record was released, wanting to like the record was mainly a want that they didn’t do an entire album of songs concerned with the novelty of their collaboration. Thankfully, it was more than that.

It has about three songs, give or take a song, that I’m interested in now, none of which are the singles. I’ve heard Courtney and Kurt together on a Jen Cloher record. However, Sea Lice has its own style. I think its worth a listen.

Exactly what I expect from a band that has a member of Bikini Kill, but still really good even though I’m only a few tracks in

They also appear in it! (as does Big Nastie)

It’s a really fun movie.

Lot’s more to get through today, but (as well as King Krule - see upthread - which I am very much enjoying getting to know), I would also recommend folks trying Sofarnopolis by Matias Aguayo/the Desdemonas. I am really not good at ascribing genres to music, but for what it is worth the blurb says this: “an album, in which Matias digs deep into some dark forms of rock music which inspired him as a teenager, and brilliantly revisits them in a moody, compelling, post-electronic 2017 style”, but yeah well, you know, listen for yourself and take a view.

I can’t say I am disappointed with Beck, because that would suggest I had expectations, which I didn’t. Frankly, it’s blander than bland and he’s phoning it in (that was a simply awful, embarrassing performance on Later …), and I won’t be revisiting Colors. I know I should like St. Vincent - I really want to - but Annie has never done it for me and this isn’t changing my mind. Indie darling and all that, and no doubt well deserved. Just not for me.

Can’t get with Kurt and Courtney either. Probably just me though.

Need to give them a few more spins, but I am initially quite taken with King Khan & the Gris Gris, Murderburgers (best guess at genre: garage rock) and the Luxembourg Signal, Blue Field (hybrid indie pop/dream pop).

Nice one! Thanks for the heads up - what are your first thoughts of it?

Had forgotten about this coming out! I will have to investigate. King Khan always delivers something fun and raucous! Will also give the Matias Aguayo record a try too.

It’s up on Deezer now too. That’s Monday’s sounds sorted

I’m liking it so far after two listens, it’s definitely not a throwaway solo project. Parts of it remind me of Sunbathing Animal (the album, not the song) but with more of a rustic feel and some organ thrown in at times. Have you listened yet? Some of the songs are already stuck in my head, and the last one strangely reminds me of “I Don’t Want to Go on with You Like That” by Elton John (melody-wise at least) which I haven’t thought about since I was 6 years old I think. And “What Do I Do” could be a monster song live.

Never had heard of them before - the album as a whole hasn’t clicked yet, but “Laura Palmer” is a fantastic song. I’m not sure which is true - if using that chord progression brings out the best in bands, or if it’s impossible to write a bad song using it.
