Ana Roxanne & DJ Python - Natural Wonder Beauty Concept
Two of my favourites from recent years: American experimental/ambient musician and singer meets reggaeton pioneer whose āMas Amableā is one of my records of the decade.
Just this new EP called Grass from Londonās Powerplant. Expecting a return to the synth punk I first knew them for, after their second LP ended up being 20 tracks of dungeon synth. Maybe a mix of both? The track āBroodmotherā was released as a single in January and that was some nice synth punk so thatās what Iām counting on.
The Habibi Funk labelās 23rd release is their first full length modern day LP, but shouldnāt represent too much of a departure from their excellent archive releases with a Beirut multi-instrumentalist promising a record merging Mediterranean and Lebanese influences with the concept of library music.
New Far Caspian album out today. Loved his last one, which very much harkened back to the dreamy indie rock/pop of bands like The Radio Dept. and quieter moments of Broken Social Scene.
Parks, Squares and Alleys - Zero Division Error
Just finished listening to the Far Caspian album above, and this sounds similar lofi hazy indie rock/pop.
Jack Ladder - Tall Pop Syndrome
Alex Cameron vibes from the chap who has supported Alex Cameron and is on a record label owned by a different Alex Cameron. Quite fun catchy one man indie synth pop.
Tony Njoku - Sketches & Noodles Of Bloom EP
An EP of reworkings and sketches of⦠his previous EP. But it sounds really nice, despite not having Anna B Savage on it this time.
New double A side from Merseyside wizard Forest Swords, his first in a couple of years: a bleak industrial banger with Neneh Cherry(!), backed with a woozy saxophone hypnotic ambient track. Ace
