Loraine James’s ambient alterego with a second album. First album has become one of my favourites of the last few years, so looking forward to this.
Fluxion - Haze
Dub techno from Athens, this new set was recorded across 2023 - 2024. First album in 5 years.
Gregory Uhlmann, Josh Johnson, Sam Wilkes - Uhlmann Johnson Wilkes
New jazz trio on International Anthem: two of these players were part of SML last year and they’ve also played with Anna Butterss. As all International Anthem releases, this probably won’t come on streaming for 3 weeks.
The modular synth wizard’s latest release on the quietly legendary Quiet Details label, where every release is the artist’s interpretation of that phrase. This came out on 12 Mar, isn’t on streaming (none of QD’s 2025 releases are, at least yet) but is half-price on Bandcamp until 21 Mar.
11th album from Kristin Hersh’s band and the first since 2020’s Sun Racket. One of my favourite bands from my youth and the best type of indie rock, I reckon. I know @dantrobus is a big fan.
New project from Rural France and Teenage Tom Petties member Tom Brown. Bedroom pop with a twist of power pop, college rock and jangly pop. One for @guntrip
Everyone’s favourite concept prog pop punk band are back with another album based on singer, Claudio’s Keywork and Vaxis graphic novels. I thought the last album was one of their best ones I hope they can continue that form.
New Chappell song. I’m not super feeling it, but my four-year-old was incredibly excited and has already listened to it three times after breakfast so ready to know it by heart soon.
Edit: already come round on this song, it’s a load of fun.
Buntspecht - Konstrukt 5
Love a good ol’ bit of German language indie. Chatgpt says: “The album’s sound might be described as somewhat industrial, with complex, layered synths and dynamic, evolving beats that push the boundaries of typical electronic music. It can feel both mechanical and organic at the same time, and the tracks are often experimental in their structure, moving away from conventional song forms.”
Bianca Steck - The Joy of Coincidences
indie-folk-pop. Really like her voice/maybe reminds me of another singer I can’t quite place. Plus I’m always going to be happy with: “instruments such as harp, cello, double bass, upright piano, flugelhorn and blends these warm sounds with synths, omnichord, drums, electric bass”
