The Seed OST is excellent isn’t it.
I’ve been a fan for a while, although I didn’t personally get on with the recent collaboration album with Aaron Dilloway, her back catalogue is great. Syzygy is a bit of a favourite.

I’m excited for PVA too. Not listened in full yet but love everything I’ve heard of theirs thus far. Saw a bit of their set @ Wide Awake fest last year and they were great. Ditto Dry Cleaning (their album next week!)
Thanks for this. About Farewell was such a good album but haven’t kept up
Surprise Chef - Education & Recreation
Instrumental music that draws on 70s soundtracks, jazz, funk and soul, as well as the music that formed the samples for the foundations of hip hop. Hailing from just outside Melbourne, this is the band’s third album. @anon32683410 dunno if you’ve heard of this lot?
Oooooh didn’t know they had a new one!
Had a listen earlier. Really good.
I was not aware, lovely stuff! Cheers pal
Sleeping Dogs - Blunt Razor
groovy instrumentals from Beijing, bit jazzy, bit cop show theme. Good background music for working
Album from Savannah’s The Holy Ghost Tabernacle Choir.
Was turned onto this by Brooklyn Vegan’s weekly emailer about a single ft. the singer from Soul Glo a few weeks back. Album is up on Bandcamp (not other streaming yet) and it’s ace. Very heavy hardcore/screamo in places, post rock with spoken word in others. Angry, politically alienated.
FFO Soul Glo, Chat Pile (and probably lots of other stuff I’m not into the hardcore/screamo scene to know about!!)
Says 13th but only just come up for me;
Been listening to this for the last couple of days after never having heard of them before and I absolutely love it.
Agree on the Grouper comparison - first thing I thought of. Love that very textural picked guitar sound. Get a bit of a microphones vibe as well at points.
Thanks for posting the Logan Farmer album - really enjoying his mellow sound! A nice new favourite from this week.
And I think the Rachael Dadd album would have passed me by, but it’s very lovely on my first listen also.
And thanks also for the Toby Goodshank album mention which wouldn’t have popped up on my radar due to it not being listed as a release just by him. I bought a few of his CDR albums when he toured as part of the Moldy Peaches 20 or so years ago, so that was nice to listen to him (and the other chap) again!
You’re very welcome! I didn’t really know Toby Goodshank other than the Moldy Peaches involvement but like his style and will investigate further. My way in to this was through being an embarrassingly big fan of Mathias Kom and The Burning Hell!
Alvvays and Gilla Band were last week’s joint favourites followed by AA Williams and Daphni tied for third.
What did you enjoy out of this week’s bumper harvest of 100 new releases?
While I’m thinking of it, next week’s poll will be a bit later than usual. I’m going to be away for a few days so won’t be able to get to it until maybe Thursday night, possibly Friday.
A surprisingly excellent week for me, with lots of releases I’ll be spending time with. It’s rare I give more than two votes, but this was a bumper one.
This is fucking EXCELLENT
Melawati - Aritmia
Just heard the first song off this on 6Music, and immediately went to investigate, only to find this album came out last week. Only heard the first track but that’s a slow building modular synth piece which starts off sounding a little like an ambient The Knife piece before going elsewhere and it’s very good.
Completely addicted to the new Meat Wave. Such an underrated band.
This is lovely.
