Lanue - Fire In My Mind EP

Synth-heavy delicate melodies and earnest lyrics, full of subtle tension and buoyant obscurity. Produced by Low’s Alan Sparhawk.

Ghosted is so good. Reminds me a little of The Necks.

Finn - Everything Is Alright - ravey bangers, akin to Nico Jaar’s work as Against All Logic. Exceptional for this sunny weekend

It’s fab; really immersive. Also a genius change of focus from the last one, which was also fab.

aright I concede there’s loads of great stuff out as well as KV. Saturno 2000 comp and Joel Ross I’m enjoying.
Not mentioned yet:

Jerry Paper - Free Time
Funky indie pop (maybe what you’d call bedroom pop?) from non-binary artist who likes a ridiculous album cover

AJ Suede & Small Professor - Hundred Year Darkness
More excellent underground hip hop from AJ Suede, for those who liked his last album way back in January. This one is a bit less murky and he calls himself Suede God a lot

Matt Maltese - Quiet Recordings
EP of stripped down versions of songs from his great album last year. Would likely go down well as a mellow easter family time soundtrack

Carmel Smickersgill - We Get What We Get & We Don’t Get Upset

I heard a track from this EP on Unclassified on Radio 3. It’s outsider pop/electronics, weird, fun, unsettling. She’s mentored by Anna Meredith and there are definitely some similarities.

I’ve been waiting on this for a while - it’s a beautiful listen

Enjoying having it on in the background while I’m working

lau.ra - Vol. 1 - The Mixtape

House/UK Bass. Collection of previous singles plus some new tracks. I like this a lot. My dance music tastes are generally a bit more melodic house/Balearic than most of this tape which is a bit bassier/crunchier, so the highlights for me are the flute (or whatever woodwind-type sound that is) on Chengdu, one of the new ones, and Model Man’s keys-driven remix of Don’t Waste My Time.

“I didn’t want the pressure of framing these tracks as an album. They weren’t approached as a ‘body of work’ I just made some banging singles. And then I made some more banging singles, and suddenly I had a lot of banging singles and thought why not sling them all together and press them as a collection on vinyl. So that’s how ‘lau.ra – volume 1’ was born.”
