Thanks @zanimos. Likewise, Daniel Knox’s last one didn’t do anything for me, but Chasescene was (IMHO) wonderful. So, trying this (Won’t You Take Me With With You) now. Early days, but very much liking track one … more Chasescene-y …

Haven’t listened to anything he’s done since that great run of albums in the 90s but this is great (and sounds pretty much identical to those records).

CD release of Rival Consoles - Night Melody / Articulation on Erased Tapes.
Jittering, experimental electronica building into lush soundscapes:

Already mentioned above:

Beautify Junkyards - Cosmorama on Ghost Box.
Electronic-tinged psychedelic folk with a hefty dose of tropicalia, gorgeous stuff but not quite up to their previous album imo. Had it for a week already, thanks GB!

Next up: Body In The Thames - Public Domain 3D Terrain on Disintegration State

I’m big fan of their debut album which is just super catchy. Fingers crossed for this.

Yes! The sounds he’s getting on the main melody line are what I would call Very Good. Definitely the standout track for me/extremely my shit

don’t want to be reductive/predictable, but I definitely hear some Aphex textures to the melodies and the squelchy-synths, but with much more direct four-to-the-floor beats. It’s a great combo

Anybody tried that Ashnikko album? Got Grimes and Princess Nokia on it

Shame, Pom Poko, and Cheekface all sounding really good on first listen. Got me like

Yeah, agreed with this. I couldn’t really get into their first album for some reason but this is solid.

Wondering why the general surprise on the Shame album. Did the first album not get the DiS stamp of approval ? I’ve not been following.

Shame album shares it’s name ‘Drunk Tank Pink’ with a great book about subliminal messaging etc. Good read for anyone into behavioral sciences

I really liked the first record. Nothing earth-shattering but it hit the spot. A fair few great tracks on it for driving as well.

Yeah I don’t see what people would have against them. Debut was good, this is sounding even better.

Pom Poko’s record is fantastic. Enjoyed the Kode9 EP too, think I missed that announcement.

I liked the first but maybe found it a little empty for repeat listens, or I don’t know, not dramatic or quite captivating enough for me in that moment? This seems to fill in some of the cracks that you’d hope to see filled in on a second album - and also to avoid a lot of second album mistakes. So yeah, I guess a pleasant surprise but I always had them on the ‘hopefully they nail it’ pile.

(I appreciate my opinion on the first is largely moot because I never really returned to it)
