Been waiting for this a long time - follow up to 2018’s brilliant Whack World (which had 15 minute-long tracks) from US rapper.
Greg Foat - Live at Can Rudalya, Ibiza
My artist of last year - super prolific jazz keyboardist with a solo session of poolside analogue Balearic synth and drum machine recorded live in Ibiza.
Four Tet - Three
Album number 12 from electronic legend Kieran Hebden. Reviews suggest that this is very much back to the classic Four Tet sound after recent collaborations.
Crime’s second project of the year, only feature comes from his buddy RLX.
Elcamino & Real Bad Man - The Game Is The Game
Real Bad Man takes his current hot streak production wise to Black Sopranos Family affiliate Elcamino for 28 minutes of heat, hopefully. Features include Benny The Butcher & Boldy James.
Chuck Strangers - A Forsaken Lover’s Plea
Chuck’s first full length Album since signing to Lex Records. Features include Joey Bada$$ & The Alchemist.
sleepingdogs - will we ever dance again?
Andrew & Jesse The Tree reunite for their sophomore album as sleepingdogs, & their second project of the year, with Andrew having handled production duties on Jesse’s album “Not Fade Away”.
Sunderland dark folk artist Alison Cotton with a collection of songs telling the story of Ida and Louise Cook (the little angels/Englechen of the title), two opera lovers from Sunderland, who used their opera trips to 1930s Nazi Germany to help Jewish people get out of the country.
Mr Ben & the Bens - Small Wide World
Originally from Lancaster but now based in Sheffield, Ben Hall and bandmates with more lo-fi indie stuff for fans of Belle & Sebastian and Euros Childs.
Salsa Suprema - En La Conquista Del Mundo Latino
Rediscovery and reissue of 1979 album by Venezuelan salsa artist Larry Francia.
Time Capsule - Nippon Psychedelic Soul 1970-1979
Hot on the heels of the Nippon Acid Folk compilation which came out a few weeks ago, this one has 7 tracks of 70s Japanese soul.
Also Gouge Away’s third album, as already mentioned. Really enjoyed the pre-release tracks, especially the Breeders-esque final track, Dallas.
Sounds like the name suggests. Hyper intense mix of black metal, noise and trance, with the occasional slithers of post rock and neo classical. Japanese if it didn’t go without saying.
Lustmord - Much Unseen Is Also Here
Dread inducing dark ambient
Kaosis and Anders Colsefni - mate.feed.kill.repeat
Original Slipknot frontman has collaborated with a New Zealand based nu metal band (Nu Zealand?!) to re-record the long deleted Slipknot demo. Banger or impending lawsuit?
The Black Crowes - Happiness Bastards
Bluesy Southern rock for people who like the Allman Brothers but not quite enough to also like NASCAR. I have a soft spot for this band because they remind me of when my Dad briefly got in to playing slide guitar in the 90s.
Mad Caddies - Arrows Room 117
Ska punk you may remember from early 90s Fat Wreck compilations and most likely, nowhere else (Quality Softcore is still a 10/10 BBQ album). Sounds more Sublime-esque mellow ska than punky so far.
