Intrigued by Ought after not liking the singles all that much. Hoping those rave reviews are onto something.

The last Death Pedals record is out today too. As much as I like it when a band goes out on a high it’s a damn shame they’re splitting. If you like your fast and riffy stuff like Hot Snakes and haven’t done so already check 'em out.

Got the Songs:Ohia ep to pick up tomorrow as well. I’ve never heard either track before so I’m quite excited.

Giving US Girls a whirl and very much enjoying it. Will be giving Superchunk a rinse once coffee has kicked in.

Really enjoyed the first two Belle and Sebastian Eps (with the second one being the best thing they’ve done in a very long time). So that’s on the playlist.

Listened to the Wild Beasts thing in the car. The first seven tracks is latter period heavy man which is no good. And the thing sounded pretty flat (obviously it might if it is a “live” recording as such). Will see how it shakes out. I feel bad for them going down though; utterly adored Smother beyond all words. It’s the album I fell in love with with my wife as we fell in love so they’ll always mean that to me.

Orielles album is good fun. Not really checked out Ought before, just listening now and sounds pretty great.

Not paid attention to Belle and Sebastian in ages so will probably listen to that later.

The Loma album is lovely. It’s a collaboration between Jonathan of Shearwater and members of Cross Record. RIYL Julie Byrne, Nina Nastasia and even Broadcast I guess.

Nearly forgot - new Estuary Blacks came out today as well. Excellent stoner rock infused post-rock. You could call it post-stoner I guess but then I’d have to be sick.

Crisis Faith by American Nightmare is a fantastic album to check out.

I can’t get into the new Ought album, which is disappointing as I have generally really liked them in the past.

Loving the new U.S. Girls though! Maybe not quite as good as Half Free (on first listen at least) but that was one of my favourite records of whatever year it was released in, and it’s refreshing that she is trying something a bit new with her sound.
