Phenomenal band name
The singles have been typically all over the place, with a hint at embracing some more cross over/broadening their appeal - expanding on Star Baby from their last full album (which was a banger)
Excellent. Looking forward to it once I’ve settled my head a bit.
Cuneiform Tabs - Age
Hypnagogic pop / psychedelic.
Michael J. Blood x Samizdat - LP2
2nd collab LP from these 2 last one had a track weirdly feature in that fashion show Chanel did on Thomas Street
M(h)aol - Something Soft
Previously a five-piece, now a trio for this second album by the Irish post-punk band, with drummer Constance Keane taking on the lead vocalist role.
Lido Pimienta
Colombian art pop I guess. Been really looking forward to this, ages since her last one
Theo Bleak - Bad Luck is Two Yellow Flowers EP
Interesting Scottish songwriter, already onto her 5th EP or so. Delicate and lush indie folk, quite a lot of overlap with her fellow Scots No Windows I posted last week
FFO Skullcrusher, Phoebe Bridgers
Surprise Chef - Superb
Cinematic jazz/funk/soul from Melbourne. FFO BADBADNOTGOOD
The quintet’s distinct sound pulls from 70s film scores, the funkier side of jazz, and the samples that form the foundation of hip hop.
Cardiff based Queer folk protest songs. So so cathartic.
The song about digging up Thatcher to check shes still dead is a highlight. And what a VOICE.
Burn the Ladder - Angry, Tired!
Ben Frost - Under Certain Light and Atmospheric Conditions
Under Certain Light and Atmospheric Conditions is built upon two years of live shows, soundcheck improvisations, and field recordings. It is a 38-minute dreamspace of jet lag, melatonin supplements, roaring crowds, and failing technology.
Alexandra Savior – Beneath The Lilypad
Indie Pop / Chamber Pop
Shanti Celeste - Romance
Shimmery sunshine house, more mellow and vocals this time. FFO Sofia Kourtesis, Eris Drew, Pearson Sound
Yard - Yard ep
Irish industrial techno act with their first ep.
Pelican - Flickering Resonance
Post metal legends with their first new album in ages.
Törzs - Menedék
More Pelagic Records post rock.
Soot Sprite - Wield Your Hope Like A Weapon
Mid-West Country emo indie rock on Specialist Subject.
FFO Muncie Girls, Fresh.
These guys are awesome, psyched for this.
Sofi Tukker - Butter
Looks like Sofi Tukker decided last year’s Bread was too dry, so they’ve added Butter. wise choice, imo. Poppy house.
Move 78 - Game Four
Last album was jazz fusion-ish, so assume the same
Collettivo Immaginario - Oltreoceano
More jazz, featuring Tommaso Cappellato
Also looking forward to Surprise Chef, Mourning [A] BLKstar and Mhaol
Oooh yeah this is good. Saw her solo in a support slot last year and had meant to check out the full band stuff and completely forgot
I’m a sucker for very scene, place and time specific compilations, and here’s two of them.
Various Artists - Borga Revolution! Ghanaian Dance Music In The Digital Age, 1984-1999 (Volume 3)
Third volume of tracks exploring “Burger Highlife”, the 80s/90s subgenre fusing West African melodies with synthesizers, disco, and boogie.
Various Artists - Promises, Promises - Borders & Mid-Wales Punk/Post-Punk 1979-83
On Caroline True Records, post-punk stuff from largely forgotten artists from in and around Powys and Shropshire.
