Phenomenal band name

The singles have been typically all over the place, with a hint at embracing some more cross over/broadening their appeal - expanding on Star Baby from their last full album (which was a banger)

Excellent. Looking forward to it once I’ve settled my head a bit.

Theo Bleak - Bad Luck is Two Yellow Flowers EP

Interesting Scottish songwriter, already onto her 5th EP or so. Delicate and lush indie folk, quite a lot of overlap with her fellow Scots No Windows I posted last week

Surprise Chef - Superb

Cinematic jazz/funk/soul from Melbourne. FFO BADBADNOTGOOD

The quintet’s distinct sound pulls from 70s film scores, the funkier side of jazz, and the samples that form the foundation of hip hop.

Cardiff based Queer folk protest songs. So so cathartic.
The song about digging up Thatcher to check shes still dead is a highlight. And what a VOICE.

Burn the Ladder - Angry, Tired!

Ben Frost - Under Certain Light and Atmospheric Conditions

Under Certain Light and Atmospheric Conditions is built upon two years of live shows, soundcheck improvisations, and field recordings. It is a 38-minute dreamspace of jet lag, melatonin supplements, roaring crowds, and failing technology.

Sofi Tukker - Butter

Looks like Sofi Tukker decided last year’s Bread was too dry, so they’ve added Butter. wise choice, imo. Poppy house.

Oooh yeah this is good. Saw her solo in a support slot last year and had meant to check out the full band stuff and completely forgot

I’m a sucker for very scene, place and time specific compilations, and here’s two of them.

Various Artists - Borga Revolution! Ghanaian Dance Music In The Digital Age, 1984-1999 (Volume 3)

Third volume of tracks exploring “Burger Highlife”, the 80s/90s subgenre fusing West African melodies with synthesizers, disco, and boogie.

Various Artists - Promises, Promises - Borders & Mid-Wales Punk/Post-Punk 1979-83

On Caroline True Records, post-punk stuff from largely forgotten artists from in and around Powys and Shropshire.
