Ah no.
Hopefully it’s decent rather than actively bad.
LP hasn’t turned up yet so il not be listening until Monday at the earliest.
At least the live show should be great.

Well, that new Jim James record is just gorgeous isn’t it.

Not a challenging listen by any means, but an utterly lovely accompaniment to a lazy sunday morning.

There are some heavy Sparklehorse vibes on that new Hovvdy album. Great stuff.

Polachek and clipping. are 2 clear AOTY contenders for me.

By vibes do you mean plagiarism? That song “tellmel’masinger” is pretty much “its a wonderful life” even has the exact same opening words and intonation…could be a conscious nod (cant not be i guess…)

(It is, we asked them about it in our interview)

I’ve seen a bunch of 4-star reviews for this but, yeah, I’m not really enjoying it at all. Is it just me or does his voice sound a bit off too?

It seems I’m the only one here who enjoys it

Cathedral is absolutely buried into my head at the moment, just humming it constantly

Really like this MM single, the southern gothic thing really suits him imo. To me it sounds like the lighter end of The Seer/To Be Kind-era Swans broken down into bite size chunks.

It’s a Johnny Cash cover. (But you might know that)

I had no idea! Cheers

I am partial to a bit of JC but by no means a hardcore fan. I’ll check that version out too.

It’s actually an old folk song, been recorded many times before the Johnny Cash version - as Run On by Moby for example.

Any fans of this Hurtling album ‘Future From Here’? Don’t think it’s been mentioned in this thread. Band members have also played in MBV, Graham Coxon and Charlotte Hatherly’s bands amongst others so the guitar sounds on this are fantastic. Great songs too. Bit shoe-gazey, early 90’s US rock etc…

Need an appropriate dog walking soundtrack tomorrow, and I’ve read strong reviews…

I’ll report back with my impressions.

Very much enjoyed this, always forget how strong his albums are, because he doesn’t do anything “groundbreaking”. Has a really nice atmosphere

The second part of this Foals album is really quite good… did not imagine I’d be liking one Foals albums this year let alone two (ish)

The Jemma Freeman… album is so so good. Thanks for the tip! Getting more and more from it with each listen. In the words of Sum 41 - all killer, no filler

for AOTY purposes, I see the 2 releases as 1 album.

Friendship ended with band who use the same promotional tactics as Stephen Yaxley-Lennon.
