Probably listened to this song about 15 times today. It’s fantastic.

I like it too. Very melodic and warm sounding.

Giant Sand have released ‘Recounting the Ballads of the Thin Line Men’ a re-recording of their second album ‘Ballad of a Thin Line Man’. I enjoyed last year’s re-recording of their first album, and didn’t realise this was a longer term project.

Oh, and there’s a new Operator Music Band album, ‘Duo Duo’. For fans of Stereolab, I suppose.

Released today rather than yesterday but I just saw on pitchfork there’s a new Thurston Moore out. It’s experimental Thurston rather than songwriter Thurston so who knows if it’s any good but I’ll dive in later and see.

For me:

M83 “DSVII”
Juan MacLean “The Brighter the Light”
Floating Spectrum “A Point Between”
Nils Frahm “Encores 3”
Chihei Hatakeyama “Forgotten Hill”
Sma Vagor “4”
Alaskan Tapes “Views From Sixteen Stories”

I thought the last album was an enjoyable listen but this new Blink 182 is a confused mess. One properly good song, and that’s because it’s just an Alkaline Trio song ruined by the appearance of Mark Hoppus.

My review, in summary:

Also, all but one of the tracks has at least 1 and up to 4(!!) co-writing credits. There’s a 50-second song which apparently required 7 people to write. Nothing against collaboration in principle but coming from a pop punk band In their 40s it seems like a transparent, desperate attempt to stay relevant.

Which one? I tried to listen through this yesterday and had to abandon

Darkside. But I’m a total Skiba mark, and his fingerprints are all over that one.

In other news, I think someone must have slipped Rolling Stone a kickback because… wow

Cult Of Luna a late contender for album of the year for me.

Might be my favourite of his

Georgia especially is a cracking tune

Nils Frahm and Brittany Howard both really good. Enjoying Sampa the Great also, but it’s too long IMO.

Efterklang not doing much for me. Need to dedicate some proper headspace to Joe Armon-Jones. That man deserves my undivided attention - need to get tickets for the Leeds show still.

Monster Rally. Sister Owls is the best tune.

This is great!
