☀️ 🐨 New releases 20th June 2025 🐨 ☀️

My word. Loads for me today…

GoGo Penguin - Necessary Fictions
I really love the laid back jazzy stuff these guys do so can’t wait for this

Greg Foat + Forest Law - Midnight Wave
More jazz. I’ve been quite obsessed with Greg Fiat’s stuff for a while. Bandcamp says:

Greg Foat and Forest Law (Brownwood, Bongo Joe) collaborate on an epic concept album about Life, Death, Painting and Surfing. Inspired by the art and life of a local Isle of Wight artist and surfing legend Dave Gray. The album philosophically chronicles the many aspects of surfing and surf communities.

(Omg isle of wight!!)

Hotline TNT - Raspberry Moon
Stereogum’s album of the week. Shoegaze-y emo?

Biosphere - The Way of Time
Ambient legend releases another one.

The Black Dog - My Brutal Life 2
Techno (?) concept album about brutalism. Follow up to the original from a couple of years back.

… Any more?

One of my favourite albums of last year was Dust Devil by Naemi. Back with a new one today that’s very shoegazey (with Ulla on drums!). It’s so so good (no streaming, it’s on Bandcamp).

Also new single from Dawuna. Always perfect.

Mainly looking forward to Hotline TNT, Haim and:

S.G. Goodman - Planting By The Signs

West Kentucky singer-songwriter with a folk/atmospheric indie-rock flavour. FFO Sharon Van Etten, Tyler Childers who covered one of her songs previously and Bonnie Prince Billy who guests on a track here.

Matmos - Metallic Life Review

Constructed entirely of sounds from metallic objects “captured over the entire length of the existence of Matmos as a band, including everyday pots and pans from each member’s childhood, door scrapes recorded decades ago on a European tour, and metal “take up reels” used at the INA/GRM studios in Paris on the tape decks used to make the classic musique-concrete recordings”.

The second half of the album is a single ‘live in the studio’ recording, which should be an interesting contrast with their normal intricate constructions.

UNIVERSITY - McCartney, It’ll Be OK

Noisy, chaotic punk rock debut by a bunch of kids from Crewe. I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while.
