Second album from the South London trio with quite trip-hoppy electronica with drowsy-sounding spoken vocals. Slowed down quite a lot compared to the first album which was closer to dance music, iirc. Anyway, enjoying it very much so far.
11 new songs from Glasgow’s answer to The Magnetic Fields. Their previous albums are perfect for gloomy January days so I’m looking forward to giving this a listen.
Somewhat shoegazey indie pop/rock from here in Sheffield, this one’s a collection of outtakes, alternate versions, and previously unreleased tracks from 2018 to 2025.
Experimental modern classical with ambient noise of a busy station. A 43 minute piece performed live by a ten-piece ensemble of brass, woodwind and strings in Union Station’s Great Hall during rush hour in May 2025.
More gritty, self-produced street rap from a king of the form.
IDK - e.t.d.s. A Mixtape by .idk.
Talented rapper who often fails to make the most of it, but features from Black Thought, Pusha T, Joey Valence & Brae, the RZA (and apparently posthumous turns by DMX and DOOM) plus production from Kaytranada, No ID, Conductor Williams and Madlib will be enough to get me to give it a go.
Final album by the Thrash pioneers. Sad day really as been a fan since the 80’s. Been pretty consistent in the last 20 years and the previous album was genuinely excellent. Probably the most consistent of the big four and personally my favourite. Watched their Album launch film at the cinema last night which sounded decent on first listen (Not a fan of a couple of singles tbh). The choice to include a Ride the Lightning cover is interesting , but given he wrote it with Metallica I’ll give him a pass. Will have a few more listens to form a proper opinion.
EP to mark the 20th anniversary of The Greatest. Features a new version of that album’s ‘Could We’, plus covers of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ and James Brown’s ‘Try Me’.
