Agriculture- Living is Easy

New EP of ecstatic black metal, first track sounds like Irish folk music.

Owen- The Falls of Sioux

Haven’t listened yet so idk if this sticks with the usual acoustic emo/folk typical of Kinsella or is more in line with last year’s LIES record.

And the Cats and Cats and Cats vinyl reissue!

New Adult Jazz album is my big thing for today! Been 8 years since their last new release. Very excited. Experimental art rock.

Adult Jazz - So Sorry So Slow

I’m seeing this listed as May 3rd. Either way the two tracks available are excellent. Some of the guitar lines almost wouldn’t be out of place on a Queen record (not in an awful way).

Already ordered the t-shirt…

Also the electronic duo Gidge have a new EP out today. Loved all their stuff previously so looking forward to more new stuff. They sort of sound like if Burial had been born in the chilly countryside rather than a rainy city.

Big one for me today is a new double album from Hovvdy. Looking forward to seeing them supported by Runnner in a few weeks at Green Door Store.

Hovvdy - s/t

Melodic indie/acoustic rock from Texas. Sweet songs about love, family and friendship. You know, all the good stuff.

I’ve got the first couple of tracks out using my generative chess music program :metal:

Takes the moves of a game of chess and maps them via some rules to midi outputs which control different synths for each piece type. More details and an explanatory video on Bandcamp.

Babehoven - Water’s Here In You

Babehoven released my favourite record of 2022, so really looking forward to this. Indie folk with little blends of country and shoegaze. Out on double double whammy.

Hmm, my What’s New section on Spotify was being buggy today and wasn’t loading most albums. I had to keep going back out and in about 15+ times to find my myriad of releases. Looking forward to the Adult Jazz album too, but my big release is:

Bodies Of Water - The Journey Is Our Home
They actually put this out on streaming on Tuesday, so I’ve been able to listen to it a bunch of times already. It sounds a bit like their first album, over-excited over-the-top Arcade Fire/Funeral-esque tunes; maybe more poppy and gospelly and less rocky. They apparently wrote the songs as part of their church group, which I would normally not be too keen to hear godly praising songs, but they’re so catchy. Plus I liked this summary of it from one of the singers:

Ooh, you’re right. My vinyl pre-order was originally 26th April, went from that and seems it’s gone back a week.
