New releases 26/3/21

Thanks for hyping this, I put it on headphones in bed last night (as well as that Massey Hall album from the NY listening club) and had a pretty transcendent experience. The bits where Pharoah sits quiet were really good but I was always waiting for him to come back in again because his parts have so much personality and magic in them. I guess part of good playing is when not to play, yadda yadda. Could imagine it’d be even better once I’m familiar enough to get psyched for when he’s about to play, and appreciate the ebb and flow more.

Enjoyable classic-sounding jangly / post-punky indiepop from Italy.

Really enjoying this

Lost Girls is brilliant. Was on my long list to listen to but then got bumped up after seeing score on the Pitchfork review.

The Quietus have done an overview of his whole career here if this helps…

I’ve listened to the few tracks of his new album this morning. the tunes sound great and he’s in fine voice so far.

edit: this was meant to be a reply to @Icarus-Smicarus

My long term admiration for Cathal Coughlan is the only reason I can sort of pronounce your first name correctly

will check these out, cheers (@EVI as well)

i remember hearing Gideon Coe play a track of his a while ago and very much overpronouncing his name to a phlegmy degree, but i was still pleased he made the effort to not just say it phonetically

He’s a brilliant live performer if you ever get the chance to see him

Those that liked the Rone & Friends album might be interested in the free concert on Arte tonight at 8pm UK time. They stream it on their YouTube channel as well. They recently broadcast a L’Impératrice concert which is still available to watch I think.

Just search for Arte Concert on YouTube.
