Just a couple of other releases that I don’t think I’ve seen mentioned anywhere on here so far.

First is Deeper’s album

Which I am liking a lot. It’s what I assume a 2020-centric version of post-punk would be most likely to sound like but it’s doing a lot for me today.

Second is Lau’s limited edition live unplugged album. Lau are amazing, if you’ve not ever worked out how amazing they are, then they’re even harder to describe than I found Deeper, but mostly-instrumental folk/post-rock/celtic/the kind of music that when you hear it you realise you needed it in your life. Anyway, there’s a two track sample of it on Spotify at

And then the album itself is available on their website in CD form. I sound like their management. I promise you I’m not. They just make me feel things that a lot of other bands don’t make me feel.

It’s very good indeed.

Please please please god get rid of the vocals. You hear tracks like ’ Moth to the Flame’ and think this is ambient personified. Suck great backbeats completely ruined by the vocals imo.

Terrible isn’t it.

I must say… if I may be so bold… the song, “Ruby Falls” (off the new Waxahatchee) is so stunningly gorgeous and sentimental it’s driving me to tears. I guess it resonates profoundly as I sit here reflecting on a 27 year old truck driver who unfortunately lost his fight with COVID… 100 miles from where I live. I guess some of its sweeter lines speak to the inner parts of me that are dying to live and love beyond this quarantine and this anxiety.

I digress… It’s a deeply beautiful song for anyone who was curious about the several Waxahatchee mentions here. Follow it up with “St. Cloud,” the title track off the same album and another charming sentiment. Both songs pair nicely with the brief nature of existence and how we make peace with it all.

Wishing we all make it safely to the other side of this outbreak! Love to you from California <3

Loveblind have released both their third single, Goodbyes Without Goodbye, and their debut album, Sleeping Visions, this week. Both utterly superb Ride-Cure-Placebo-Siouxsie type things.

There’s a new FACS album out today (Brian Case, ex-Disappears). Not yet listened but kinda post-punk I guess?

Cable Ties album rocks!

Father John Misty has a live album out on bandcamp, all proceeds going to Covid-19 relief fund

New Nils Frahm! Released today (28 March) for Piano Day. But I’m posting it in this thread anyway, rules be damned.

This Waxahatchee album is something special isn’t it? Just joyful and wonderful. Exactly what we need.

Thank you! Sounds very much up my alley. First track has a real Curve rhythm section, with some semi-Brian Molko vocals

@ttf and @TAFH33 may be interested to hear the cover of Saturnine.

in fact, there’s a fair bit of TheFutureEmbrace about the album

I’d never heard of them before, but this is big praise and I’m going to have to try this later. Very excited to hear that bands are covering Saturnine now. The T’s of the world are starting to make music.

For anyone interested in the excellent originals:

Machina II version (my favorite):

Judas O Version:

You forgot the piano version!!!

I didn’t know it existed! I really need to set aside some time to carefully go through the reissues.

Glad you like it. I personally am blown away by just how damn good they are. Not heard a band like this come along in a long time. And it was all done remotely: they’ve never even met each other.

(I should declare an interest here, which is that my own band Mašīna provided one of the remixes for Loveblind’s third single, Goodbyes Without Goodbye. It’s not that I’m recommending their records because I’m on one of them, though – it’s the other way round: I asked to remix one of their records because they’re bloody brilliant. Still can’t believe they said yes.)
