Please please please god get rid of the vocals. You hear tracks like ’ Moth to the Flame’ and think this is ambient personified. Suck great backbeats completely ruined by the vocals imo.

I must say… if I may be so bold… the song, “Ruby Falls” (off the new Waxahatchee) is so stunningly gorgeous and sentimental it’s driving me to tears. I guess it resonates profoundly as I sit here reflecting on a 27 year old truck driver who unfortunately lost his fight with COVID… 100 miles from where I live. I guess some of its sweeter lines speak to the inner parts of me that are dying to live and love beyond this quarantine and this anxiety.

I digress… It’s a deeply beautiful song for anyone who was curious about the several Waxahatchee mentions here. Follow it up with “St. Cloud,” the title track off the same album and another charming sentiment. Both songs pair nicely with the brief nature of existence and how we make peace with it all.

Wishing we all make it safely to the other side of this outbreak! Love to you from California <3

Loveblind have released both their third single, Goodbyes Without Goodbye, and their debut album, Sleeping Visions, this week. Both utterly superb Ride-Cure-Placebo-Siouxsie type things.

Glad you like it. I personally am blown away by just how damn good they are. Not heard a band like this come along in a long time. And it was all done remotely: they’ve never even met each other.

(I should declare an interest here, which is that my own band Mašīna provided one of the remixes for Loveblind’s third single, Goodbyes Without Goodbye. It’s not that I’m recommending their records because I’m on one of them, though – it’s the other way round: I asked to remix one of their records because they’re bloody brilliant. Still can’t believe they said yes.)

Tbh most of the bonus discs are a massive missed opportunity…lots of unnecessary “remixes”, instrumentals (snooze) and alt versions that mean many of the great outtakes and bsides dont appear

Waxahatchee continues her hot streak
and Sorry’s debut is a nice confident slice of post-punk’/indie rock

Sufjans is boring and lacking in ideas and texture and I don’t care for dirty projectors newest effort.
