Nine Inch Nails - Tron Ares: Divergence
Remix album of the stinky last Tron movie’s OST (the best thing about it).

Not really feeling this from the first few tracks. Feels like a duller version of Plastic Beach, even down to the guest spots.

The New Gorillaz record does really sound like the actual follow up to ‘Plastic Beach’ and feels thematically and sonically way closer to Demon Days/Plastic Beach than anything else they’ve released since and that really helps this album stand out compared to their other post Plastic Beach releases. Whilst I really liked Song Machine (think everything else they’ve put out since Plastic Beach has been pretty poor) this feels way more like an album and whilst not quite as good as Plastic Beach or Demon Days which have better highlights and stronger songs it’s deffo an album I’ll come back to fairly frequently I think. Really good imho

Health - R-Type I

Remix album from the atmospheric synth/shoegaze lads. Sounds pretty good on first listen.

Isn’t it? Glad to see it get some recognition.

I’m a huge fan of RMFC, so I was pretty confident it would be very decent. Despite it being not yet March, I can see it in my top 5 AOTY. If it doesn’t turn out that way, that means there’ve been some very, very good albums released this year.

Yeah I like RMFC too (it may have been you who introduced me to them a year or so ago) but I reckon this is better.

Really liking the new Gorillaz. Not generally a huge fan, although think they’re a great singles band. The whole record is at least very good though.

Really good, pretty dark moody and danceable. Big fan halfway through and strongly considering their tour in spring

Also went back to their last album, much dreamier and jangly but also gorgeous. I’m a fan!

So this is excellent. Lots of texture, interesting percussion, some fuzz, sparse in places. Probably for fans of Bonniesongs, Midwife (ish), Julie Byrne, etc.

Yeah I was going to suggest checking out their previous because it’s a lot of fun. I was slightly thrown off by the new one first listen because it’s really dark. But the second listen makes me think it might be quite something.

Hyaline (the debut) is one of my favourite records of the past 5yrs or so. Stunning. This is equally as good.

Quelle Chris - Happy Place
Looks like a YouTube-only EP from the Detroit rapper.

Here’s my chat with kwes. about his incredible new record if any of you fancy a listen: What If You Could Taste Music?

Various Artists - ISOS five seasons: 憬

Experimental/ambient Japanese dance music. “憬 Winter” is the third instalment of the five seasons compilation series curated by Tokyo anti-rave collective Minna no Kimochi.

Daughn Gibson - All Hell

Not a new album, but this is back on streaming for the first time in ages and didn’t know where else to put it. Although just noticed his collection of EP’s from a couple of years ago has since disappeared. Annoying.

But yeah, this album is really good.
