17 bittersweet songs from Lou

Based on Spotify stats these guys are in the process of blowing up. Synth pop from Bristol.

I think this is only a single + remixes, but for me this is even better synth pop:

Did I mention synth pop?

Really enjoying all of these this morning

would have missed them all!

thanks!!

I’ve listened to Raoul and Mustafa so far, and really liked them, especially Raoul. Starting on Bachelor now.
Unfortunately I didn’t like Prudence as much as The Dø, which was quite disappointing. Ah well, I still have The Dø albums to listen to at least!

black midi - Cavalcade definitely deserves a proper mention and a link

Feels nailed on to be my album of the year, but we’ll see. No idea how you’d describe the heavier tracks, but pleasantly surprised by the mellower, Scott Walker/Divine Comedy esque interludes. Brilliant stuff.

New Young MA album. The sharpest female MC around (and one of the best full stop). Shades of classic 90s style hip hop.

“Always Something” from UV-TV is sounding pretty good on first listen, a bit of a late-Eighties janglepop sound (Flatmates, Pastels, Shop Assistants) to it. The recent single “Distant Lullaby” should give you a good taster if you don’t have 29 minutes to spare to listen to the whole thing

Jorja Chalmers back with a new batch of moody and lush songs with dominant keys/synth. Couple of instrumentals. Really liked her last record and this one seems just as good on first impression

Hoping to give Penelope Trappes a spin at some point. Eel Drip was one of my favourite tracks of last year.

Not an album…

Erland Cooper - Holm (Variations & B-sides)

Extras and re-works from the sessions for his Orkney triptych. Expect more of the same beautiful, soaring, wistful pieces evoking desolate Scottish coastlines.

Two of my fave emo bands Gulfer & Charmer have a split single out which is cool:
