Peace Burial At Sea.

New EP from NE- based post rock slash hardcore type business. First stuff they’ve released in about a decade. Pretty decent from first couple of spins

Listening to the Stella Summer album. Part of me thinks it’s a bit dull, but on the other hand I do seem to be liking it quite a bit anyway. Currently on the Eyes of a Singer and the vocals are quite irritating and repetitive, but then she stops singing and it becomes quite lovely.

Also been remastered in sony 360 reality audio which sounds pretty cool on :headphones: with supported players

Is that a Tidal thing?

Tidal/Deezer/Nugs I believe - think you need the high fidelity plans for all of em

Amazon uses Dolby Atmos and im not sure if the Outkast has been remastered for that format or not

I imagine it’ll also be an option on the PS5 as it’s being advertised for the games

Jose Luis Andervel is also a winner this week. Lovely stuff.

But to expand

Sony 360 Audio

The music sound more like listening to music in the ‘sweet spot’ using a pair of speakers rather than headphones. And it sounds mostly very natural (although a couple of tracks some of the effects and tones seemed a bit off) but I found the overall experience a lot more engaging, comfortable and natural. It doesnt feel like you’re listening to music confined to your head there is a sense of distance and massive soundstage even with closed backheadphones.

Can’t wait to see the playstation implementation of this (it works with any pair of headphones providing you have a device that supports it. Think its only on Android and Playstation 5 at the moment) as it removed a lot of elements of headphone fatigue for me. The Stankonia 360 mix is really quite good and not over reliant on gimmicky effects.

The 360 mix of Haim’s most recent album was really good too

I’ll check it out once I’m done with this! its remarkable how much it sounds like im listening to music on a hi-fi

Also tried the Charli XCX live album and it legit felt like being in an arena for the show, warts n all! It brought back some mad gig nostalgia lol

Haim’s doesnt appear to be on tidal in 360. Oh welllll!

Ah balls, it was, that’s where I heard it, sorry for getting your hopes up

I like the new Amy Macdonald. Feels like a comeback even though her previous one was only a few years ago. She wears her Springsteen influence on her sleeves.

I’m not going to lie, early spotify ads have given me a weird pavlovian rsponse to the name Amy Macdonald (good to hear you like it, just got mad flashbacks lol)

Macdonald cites Travis as her biggest influence.[30] Other influences include The Killers[31] and Rammstein.

Fair play

That seems like confusing influences with “music you heard when you were 14.”

Tbf, I think she was about 14 when she said this (She was pretty young when she first appeared in the Glasgow music press).

Makes sense!

Always though that Rammstein should go in a more Travis-y direction
