I’m not going to listen because, well, it doesn’t sound very good but Freelance Nun is an absolutely great name.
Go on, give the preview track a spin and spoil yourself; its catchy like the cover tracks Misty Miller did for the film Catherine Called Birdy. =p
Sheep on Drugs - Greatest Hits (remaster)
Yes, this is not a joke. The remaster everyone has been clamoring for.
Ah, I listened to the Ballad of Eldon Street on BBC Sounds and thought it was lovely; didn’t realise there was an album along with it.
I thought he was a bit big for his boots so just wanted to call him poet speaking guy really.
It came out on friday
Ruined my weekend etc.
I like this time of year in which my listening queue for the year is empty (played the Pile EP already) and I can do a little catching up from the year before.
I remember really loving the opening track on the EP with the spoken word vocals but then the other tracks were more straightforward, will try the album though.
Thought the Sprints album was a decent enough listen in the end up, though not sure how much I’ll go back to it.
Apart from Up and Comer nothing on the Sprints album really caught my attention. Maybe with a few more listens I’ll be fully into it.

Patricia Taxxon’s TECHDOG 4 was my album of the year for 2023. The best way I can describe the TECHDOG series is PC Music vs. Autechre.
Bicycle is similar, with some slightly more house beats on a couple of tracks. Great stuff.
Literary Mind was the other standout for me
Arcwelder - Continue
First album in years from Minneapolis band that released a clutch of great records in the 90s on Touch and Go records.
FFO Shellac, Superchunk, Polvo, Archers of Loaf
More melodic than I expected from the list of bands, but real good fun anyway. Paul’s Song my highlight

Late addition to last week’s thread:
Park Jiha, Agnes Obel & Oliver Coates - Foe (Original Motion Picture Score)
Three musicians who would usually gather some interest for any new release around these parts - doesn’t sound like the film is a must-see from the quick scan of reviews I did but I’ll definitely be listening to this.
I did have a brief skim through it at the time, but it didn’t grab my attention too much despite liking the three artists. Probably nice enough in the movie though!
That Sprints album is fucking great!
All to Bones - Park Bird
Just come across this album by a Korean musician. Looks like it’s his third album but first with lyrics/singing. It’s absolutely lovely, and I think I would have been incredibly happy if Sufjan had released this album last year instead of Javelin.
