New Releases 5/2/2021

Here we go again.

Sun June day today. Hopefully they didn’t delay it again.

The Weather station has a new one out.

Plus of course much talked about Black Country, New Road. Haley Williams released a surprise album. What else are you listening to?

I’m releasing an album of electronica built around samples of our silly baby from the first year or so of her life.

Rooted in Aphex Twin style playful melodies and rhythms but with a few stylistic twists and turns along the way. Still a handful of cassettes left with packaging made from her paintings.

Really looking forward to listening. Loved the cassette and the note :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Hayley Williams has put out her album she or someone compared to Folklore, which I now see you’ve mentioned!

So excited for this :heart::heart::heart:

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets - bit of shredding, wigging out, noodling stuff - for fans of Gizz etc

And Sarah Mary Chadwick’s new one is out too - more deeply personal moody stuff

There’s a new Cult of Luna EP. I’m guessing it will sound exactly like the Cult of Luna. But still great.

Dare I trot out the ol’ ‘prefer their older stuff’ but they have been a bit bland on the last couple of releases, hoping this is a return to something a bit more nuanced

This new country black road album is ruddy good

Unsurprisingly, I came in to post this. On my first listen now - reliably great.

That Mark Lanegan track is a lovely change of pace.

Got the new ones by The Staves, Weather Station and Foo Fighters coming.

Also will be listening to Shore by Fleet Foxes as that is out physically today.

A couple for me today.

Clementine March - Songs of Resilience.
Her debut album last year was terrific. This is apparently more stripped back and acoustic, a new set of songs written and recorded during the November lockdown.

Octo Octa - She’s Calling EP
Thoughtful dance bangers

Stumbled across Nana Yamoto. Japanese bedroom pop is what they’re calling it:

Should I give The Weather Station a listen ? I saw reference to the last Weyes Blood album which I found a bit of a snooze fest.

Also, straight outta Novosibirsk, this album by Ploho - Фантомные Чувства (Phantom Feelings), for a bit of Siberian synthy-gothy-new-wavey-ness.
