Lots of new releases today from bands I haven’t quite gotten around to liking, but I’ll be starting with:
Oso Oso - life till bones

All about belong for me today
1 listen in and it’s their usual shoegaze, drone, ambient thing. Not as good as common era but I suppose nothing is. Very welcome return.
Big day for fans of rock bands who release albums every other day.
Osees - SORCS 80
Sounding like a mostly Dwyer-less guitar album, singles have been really good for this.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Flight b741
Returning to the boogie/dad-rock sound of Fishing for Fishes. Singles again have been really fun.
Forest Fallows - Palisades
Lo-fi psych pop stuff from this duo. Their second album recalls washed out indie pop like Ariel Pink, Destroyer, Real Estate and The Sea & Cake amongst others. (Not the best examples from a POS POV, but it really does remind me of RE and AP)
Benny the Butcher - Summertime Butch
More luxurious lush mafioso rap from the kingpin
Alliyah Enyo - Selkie Reflections
Edited fragments of a two-hour composition made for Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop from tape loops inspired by Celtic folklore. Last three tracks are longer-form pieces from Kelela producer Florian T M Zeisig.
** Four Year Strong - Analysis Paralysis**
Chunky pop punk with riffs and dual vocals.
Fucked Up - Another Day
Everyone’s favourite concept album boasting hardcore punk band return with an album they recorded a couple of days ago over the course of 24 hours, live streamed on YouTube.
Edit: actually this was recorded last year and was out last week. Too much concept, imo
Alongside the Benny The Butcher album that @JaguarPirate posted above I’ll be checking out these Rap/Hip-Hop releases…
Larry June - Doing It For Me
Larry’s first album of the year, no features but a good mix of producers including; Jake One, Harry Fraud, Cardo & Cookin’ Soul.
Verb T & Malek Winter - Restoration
New one from UK rapper Verb T, expect introspective lyrics delivered smoothly & boom bap beats.
ØKSE - ØKSE
OK this is a Jazz album rather than Hip-Hop, but it’s on Backwoodz & includes features from billy woods, Cavalier & Elucid, so it’s on my listening list.
Supermilk - High Precision Ghosts
FFO: Doe, Fortitude Valley, cheerbleederz
No, the album from this week was only available on Bandcamp for 24 hours.
This new actual release is a follow up to last year’s One Day, recorded not long after, but I can’t seem to find an answer as to whether or not it has the same 24 hour gimmick. The name and their seeming obsession with it suggests so though…
Really liked their previous record, which seemed to fly under the radar.
Ah, that was what I thought was happening, then the YouTube thing this week confused me but I was too busy watching Taekwondo to pay attention.
This is really good. It reminds me a lot of that Golden Daze album from a few years back too.
Alora Crucible - Oak Lace Apparition
new age / ambient / modern classical
Lovely new age soundscapes with hammered dulcimer, light some candles and incense.
Quivers - Oyster Cuts
Downbeat indie pop influenced by 80s jangle & 90s lo-fi indie bands from Melbourne
Might be the worst record of his career. Griselda have fallen off
And So I Watch You From Afar - MegaFauna
New one from the mostly instrumental post rocky, but not really lads. FFO: big riffs, ArTanGent bands and widdly widdly noises.
Yeah saw the Reddit chat was p bad. Shame, was so into him and the wider crew when I discovered them
Rome Streetz keeps putting out good stuff though, he’s affiliated right?
Galen Tipton & Holly Waxwing - KeepsakeFM
Came across this through ambient/electronic/drone/post-rock website A Closer Listen. Kind of hard to describe… an unhip group of insects make a summery dancey album in their bedroom. Doesn’t overstay its welcome, all 10 tracks flow into each other like a mixtape. Fun.
Beside that, can’t wait to sink my teeth into the Belong album (which sounds nothing like this!)
