Really enjoying this.

one of the Comet Is Coming guys with a collab. On the first track now and seems like anyone into CIC would dig.

What I’ve enjoyed today:

Dua Saleh’s ROSETTA - quite simply, the Hyde to Kelsey Lu’s Dr. Jekyll.

Modern Nature’s Annual - lovely to hear the saxophone play more of a central role. lovely to hear the vocals take the back seat, so the opiate rhythms can drive. lovely to hear so much craft devoted to how one song bleeds into and informs the next. Masterful!

and, as mentioned…

Noveller’s Arrow - one woman; a guitarist on par with the great Anna Calvi. armed with an arsenal of effects pedals. conjuring soundscapes possessing all the drama, expansiveness and precision of film scores. strikes a personal chord, as I’ve just finished Netflix’s The OA. now nothing seems more appropriate to soundtrack willing yourself through adjacent dimensions to reunite with lost soulmates.

another generous week for releases

she’s odd. her poetry feels spiteful. her delivery occupies the space between pretty and spitting words out like they taste bad. all of this makes me very happy :heartbeat:

Big fan of Parts and Labor, the album that Sarah Lipstate played on (“Receivers”) is probably my favourite. Managed to catch them live once, not until “Constant Future” and they split up not long afterwards. Joe Wong’s drumming was mesmerising.

please keep me posted about your Norah Jones verdict. interested to know what it does for you

Chromeo - Quarantine Casanova.

“Clorox Wipe” is a catchy as hell banger.

Really like the Built to Spill LP.
It’s faithful covers but of course they are cos it was for when they were going to be Daniel Johnston band so they were never gonna spruce it up. Just really nice.

Looks like Clap! Clap! also had a new one yesterday, called Liquid Portraits. Their last record was some tasty deep afro electro. Recent EP felt a bit more rnb/pop orientated, hoping the rest of the album splits the difference

She’s been dealing with really bad voice/throat issues for a couple of years now, meaning she’s barely played live since breaking through, which is what led to this new sound/record. Just in case you weren’t aware of the context!

Ahh no I didn’t know this at all. Glad she is still creating.

Thanks for info.

I think it was released on Friday but apologies if I’m late…

Listening to Let it Come Down - Songs We Sang in Our Dreams and really liking it so far.

Chloe x Halle is really v good

This is a great rec, thank you!

George mello- at one
it’s what im playing

So far this Orlando Weeks album is about as terrible as Safe in Sound suggested. Got as far as All the Things which is probably the only song so far that I’ve even really noticed.

Does it get any better with subsequent listens?

Not from my experience

I quite liked Safe In Sound, but as a whole the album is pretty limp and forgettable isn’t it?

A bit late but here are a couple of black metal albums that were released Friday that might be worth your time.

Ringarë - Sorrow Befell, four tracks of atmo black followed by one long ambient track split into 4 parts which I’m not too fussed with but it’s only $1 on bandcamp!

Valdrin - Effigy of Nightmares, blackened death from Sweden.
