What else is there?
What else is there?
The lovely eggs
Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs new one is out (Sabbath-y riffs from Newcastle).
Anna Burch (indie singer songwriter, excited for this one too).
Then whatever else the thread brings!
Nils Frahm (was this last week?)
This’ll be lovely. The singles have been dead nice
it was on spotify already for some reason but the Yaeji mixtape is so good
Had Yves for ages but will be nice to listen on Spotify and not the shit promo dukebox thing
My friends’ band from London released a new one. Sounds like GBV/Car Seat Headrest etc.
There’s also a new compilation from Nina Simone.
New EP on Disintegration State from Fragile X, who heads up the Bricolage label. Very dark, brooding industrial ambient. Basically the sound of the aftermath of the apocalypse when everything has gone eerie. I also contributed a remix which I made while listening to a lot of Ministry…
This is out today at some stage. Been looking forward to this one, their debut from last year is amazing (although I only heard it at the start of this one). To quote their page;
“Like strokes of inspiration, exquisite guitar melodies weave a fluent plethora of moods and emotions, showcasing a heavy classical influence. Undulant blast beats and biting screams serve as a counterpoint to pristine atmospheres and ethereal choirs, an obstinate reminder of the finite nature of man and his creations.”
New M Ward sounding like a nice gentle haze for this morning. Feels a bit more subtle than some of his stuff in the last decade, and better for it. Would love to fall for another one of his records like I did for Transfiguration of Vincent.
Will give Empress Of and Lovely Eggs a go later
Looking forward to Anna Burch and The Lovely Eggs but have you ever heard a digital accordion?
Transistor radio and post war are also both incredible, then he just kept repeating himself
looking forward to this new one
Singer from Manchester Orchestra stuck out a couple albums of demos
Charmpit (DIY powerpop/punk)
Charmpit (“sugar sweet pop with hot Cheeto punk sensibilities” as they describe themselves)
Violent Soho (Aussie rockers, my sister-in-law’s favourite band, which is helpful for you to know obviously)
Peel Dream Magazine (shoegazey / Krautrock)
Might give Yves Tumor a go.
Really enjoying that Fragile X ep. Stellar industrial nightmare electronica. It’s out on [checks notes] Disinterested Plaice records? Not sure who they are but I think they’re onto something.
Cardiff’s finest psych/stoner/shoegaze/alt-rock band Obey Cobra released an album yesterday - they’re well worth a listen. I miss seeing them in a Red Stripe soaked hellpit so much right now.
Also looking forward to checking out records by Beggar (absolutely filthy and brutal sludge metal), Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, and Capac (haunted ambient with spoken word stuff out on worriedaboutsatan’s label).
