Absolutely huge day. I’ve got 2 Chainz, The Japanese House, Pond, Little Simz, Weezer, While She Sleeps, Solange, Royal Trux, Hand Habits and FEWS that I’m excited to listen to.
Didn’t pick up much from fews the first time. Will give it a couple more spins
Mainly Robert Forster - seems strong on first listen - I loved the Evangelist; Last to Play had its moments but this seems a step up. Also reminds me to stick on Intermission - a double LP compiling the Best of Grant/Robert’s 90s solo material. Some great stuff on there and been a while…
All about A Mote Of Dust today. Beautiful record.
Snapped Ankles are very much outdoing their debut album I think.
Am I late to the party on this? Total effing BANGER
There’s the new CFCF today, can’t see it up on Spotify though
just put MWWB on and it’s damn delicious
The Solange album is superb. Never really got into A Seat at the Table but this is just wonderful start to finish.
For me:
Wander- ‘March’ Peter Sandberg- ‘Motion’ Weval- 'The Weight In Flames- I, the Mask Living Hour- Softer Faces Royal Trux- White Stuff Pond- Tasmania
Some other ambient/drone/modern comp that I have written down somewhere and need to find…
I’m loving the Weval album. A step up from the last. Has a warm woozy feel to a lot of the tracks and Roll Together is just sexy. Highly recommended.
Giving The Japanese House a go - good so far
Haven’t got to A Mote of Dust yet, will do later, but up to now really liked the Solange and Self Esteem albums.
Also wanted to highlight the single by SHHE, saw her support Kathryn Joseph the other night and she was amazing.
How can you not want to listen to a band with this name? Doom but without being tedious like most Doom Metal.
Enjoying the new Loyle Carner track, sounds like this new album will be a real step up from the singles so far.
Have just managed to drag myself away from the brilliance of Solange. First song on the Robert Forster album is as good as he’s done in many years. The 2nd song is bloody lovely too.
Finding Royal Trux to be really easy and enjoyable on first listen, a lot of fun without sounding anything like a classic.
Really digging the new Pond, neo-psychedelia twinged soul. Some straight head boppers on this one.
Listening to that for a second time at the moment. I feel like I thought them rather bland at some point in the last few years, but I think I rather like this, in a floaty, easy to enjoy, but really well put together kind of way.
both very wonderful! two of my current favourite artists in the whole world.
