Black Mountain was very good I thought.

Madonnatron is top shelf. Got a big B-52s thing going on (minus the annoying Fred Schneider vocal). Could tell from the pre-release tracks that the guitar wasn’t going to be as noisy, and was a bit worried, but I’m liking it a lot anyway.

Hayden Thorpe main one for me. I’ll give Madonnatron a go as i love the first single from it. FlyLo as well.

Amyl and the Sniffers’ new one is good if you like snotty punk full of attitude

That Sebadoh is so low end. I know they’re not exactly the epitomy of high fidelity but it sounds like it was recorded with Dolby on 11!

New Morabeza Tobacco album, handily called… Morabeza Tobacco, released yesterday

Hazy, chilled out, lo-fi indie pop.

You don’t do lo-fi indie rock in Dobly!

Madonnatron album is shockingly good. Making me question whether i gave their first album a fair shake (i didn’t like it at the time) cos this sounds like a massive leap forwar. ‘Elizabeth Taylor’ is one of the songs of the year, stunning vocals and the album is everything the fat whites album promised but didn’t deliver on.

Hayden Thorpe’s newie sounds great on first listen too.

Most releases on Double Double Whammy are gold. Worth checking the rest of the label out if you like this

It’s excellent, no doubt. Tad more diverse than the debut, which is also a bit rawer. But, yeah, if you’re digging the latest, then definitely give the first another go.

My one complaint about Elizabeth Taylor (always have to have a complaint) is that it feels out of place coming so late in the album. Would like it to come somewhere more around the middle before the tone of the album has been fully established.

Ah cool I’ve been meaning to but haven’t got round to it yet! Any particular recommendations?

All of it!

Sick, I’ll get on that!

Depends what you like. If it’s similar to The Glow, then Hovvdy, Lvl Up (which you probably know) and Yowler. But I’d also recommend Cende, Florist, Free Cake For Every Creature, Gabby’s World, Hatchie, Lomelda and Told Slant

That’s because double double whammy are the best

And I haven’t put in stuff like Bellows, GABI, Gemma, Sean Henry or Quarterbacks. And then there’s old releases by Radiator Hospital, Frankie Cosmos, Mitski, Great Grandpa or Krill.

You might have a point there. It definitely feels like it should be the centrepiece of the album.

The new Cate Le Bon album is terrific
