Best ‘best of’ ever

Will come under fire here, but Songbook is genuinely better than any of their albums. Which isn’t to say they don’t have several great albums, they were just also a brilliant singles band.

It’s also worth pointing out that the new song on that collection - Bing Bong - is very good. Particularly impressive given the subject matter.

oops. Didn’t realise they had a new one. Probably also great though.

Totally agree

Yeah they just released it the other week. It’s 2 discs and got all the singles and a bunch of album tracks. I’m really enjoying it after not having known much of their stuff.

In fact here’s the review of it and the Fuzzy Logic reissue.

“Untitled” by The Smashing Pumpkins and “I’m a Soldier” by The Afghan Whigs come to mind as good ones.

Ooh, Untitled is definitely in my top 5 Smashing Pumpkins songs - great shout!

Sugababes, Easy. There’s a load of em tbh.

that song is not a good song. it was written by members of the band orson for a start

i remember nirvana’s greatest hits started with you know you’re right. not really new, obv, but unheard/ unreleased

Absolutely love You Know You’re Right! Probably one of my favourite Nirvana tracks. The bass line is amazing!

Love ‘Cut Here’, which I think was the other new song off the same collection as ‘Wrong Number’.

Post one should have been Nirvana - You Know You’re Right proving you wrong, followed by a thread lock, TBH

to be fair on true faith, substance was a compilation of mostly non album singles & true faith was a non album single

I’m obviously defending it’s inclusion on the release rather than it’s example as a good song
clearly it’s a great song (& my avatar here, though I never set that up)

I can count six.

i cannot argue with a man who has the True Faith cover as his icon. Bit like the pyramid blaster guy in the KLF thread.

I came in here to say “Electrical Storm, which was recorded in 2002 for their compilation album The Best Of 1990-2000, is one of my favourite songs by the U2. I enjoyed it whilst eating a cheese sandwich only this morning in fact.”
