Hello everyone. I don’t think I ever posted on the old forums…but have been lurking round these for a while now.

I am 41, obsessed with music, and had ideas to be a music journalist. After writing reviews for the university newspaper I realised it’s quite hard to do. And my plan to use it to get free records seems woefully short sighted now.

I’ve gone from being long haired Madchester loving indie-kid in the early 90s through grunge, into dance music (loved ridiculously fast acid trance and techno) and now back out the other side where I listen to everything and anything. The last two acts I saw were Grimes and Nothing. Which are pretty different.

I work in IT as a developer. And currently looking for work as my contract ends soon.

I’ve probably contributed more to the cats and books threads than anything as I am a cat and book fan.

The main fact is that I live in Italy where rap means a white thug man who sings about only girls and weed and money in a embarassing video and with the same three or four words. Then I understood that it’s different in the rest of the world, lucky, but I still can’t adore it because there are so many words and so little melody, I prefer prog or post rock that create emotions without words, only by using the classic instruments. I like Kendrick Lamar because there is a lot of rock ‘n’ roll and jazz in his works, maybe after many listenings I’ll change my mind!
