Does rather set the bar, doesn’t it? A starting QB plus 2 firsts and a third for Stafford, Watson is better and ten years younger. If you take the Jets as an example, got to be Darnold plus 2nd overall, 27th overall, 2022 first, 2023 first, and then maybe even some more?
I think the Texans will try their level best to keep him but if they get an offer like that they would be mad not to take it really. Watson could make life really difficult and their utter lack of picks mean they won’t compete even with him. It would really hurt short term but I’m fairly sure they would be in a better position in, say, 2023 if they did it.
Thing is, coaches and GMs have their jobs dependant on the short term though, so… plus the Texans have long shown they’ll do whatever the wrong thing to do is with trading.
