Yeah.

Depending on which platform you use (DiS uses the NFL one, which I like best), there’s a pretty easy to follow interface which shows when you’re picking, who’s been picked, and allows you to see all available players by postition, plus the joy of Goodell himself announcing that you’re on the clock.

Yeah, I’ve done online drafts, but Div 1 says its set to an offline draft, so I’m wondering how that’s different.

Oh shit, sorry I’ve been misreading all this assuming you’d never done any draft.

No idea what an offline draft is, I assume the commish will set it to be a live one when a mutually agreeable time has been chosen.

ha! no worries. Last year’s Div 2 was my first: was running around southwold on the hottest day of the year trying to find WiFi. Finally got into a Nero to find I’d already missed the first three rounds :grimacing:

Just done my first mock draft, dear god what a disaster.

I think when you see the whole team lined-up, rather than the round-by-round best case scenario picks you have to make, you just get a good feeling for what went wrong.

I mean, it’s all nonsense though isn’t it. The computer gives you a grade, based on how far you deviated from their ideal script, which is presumably set by a all the millions of fantasy mock drafts which show how other people are picking players, and last year’s performance. But that can’t be actual gospel for how good your team will be because the real world is a very different place.

Honestly fantasy drives me insane and I don’t know why I play it but I WILL STILL CRUSH YOU ALL THIS YEAR

I now do fantasy football (soccer) - draft; fantasy football (soccer) - standard; fantasy football (gridiron) and fantasy cycling. Complete headfuck when all are on at the same time (which mercifully isn’t for long) and you’ve got to sort your teams out each weekend.

Must investigate to see if there’s fantasy downhill skiing, now I come to think of it.

Sorry, I need to change the settings, div 1 draft will of course be online, offline would require us all to meet up - which would be fun but fundamentally impossible.

when you say mock draft, do you mean a computer simulated one or against other people?

Done a load of the former (quite enjoy them as a short distraction, as well as an annual '…oh yeah I know nothing about anything beyond round 3/4 or the QBs), never done one of the latter

Just computer simulated, that’s all the geekery I need.

Bashed out a few of these today, keep ending up with Drew Brees for some reason.

hahaha, I always end up with Rivers (seems to come down to Big Ben or Rivers, and I will never draft Big Ben)

Well as I found out a couple of years ago, not only is Big Ben scum, he’s also the most maddeningly inconsistent fantasy QB on the planet.

Div 1 draft is set for 8.30pm, Sunday 2nd September. Looks ideal to me, I’ll need a fairly concerted campaign from the managers to get it changed.

There’s still a spare spot in div 1, or we can let it autodraft and someone can have it later on.

Would it not be better to promote whoever came just outside the promotion spots in Div 2 last year? Like, I would volunteer but I came in the Div 2 relegation zone so hardly thinkcthat would be fair…

Well we could do, but it just means more admin, and the div 2 commissioner always ends up with the problem of finding players. Better to just be 1 short in div 1 for a bit.

(or @kenako might fold and do it anyway…)

Are we definitely doing the keeper league? I’d offer to commission but this year is terrible for me (effectively doing two jobs atm, and away for the last week of August and first of September, which would be kinda useless for a commish).

If someone was willing to do this year, I could take over from next year on.

It’ll happen, I believe @spit-fire is sorting it, and in an emergency I’d run it if I had to.

Yep, I’ll share the load in Keeper. If either or both of you guys want to do it too, I’m sure we can be made commishes.

I’d be well up for doing it, but holiday (for the draft) and work (for the season) aren’t good for this year. Depending on how it plays out, I might be happy to cover if you’re away/busy. I kinda get the impression it’s best to just have one guy in charge though? Or it could take forever to implement anything due to making sure all the commishes agree. idk.

I’d quite like to do it one year though. Give me the power.
