Just spotted in the FAQs that payment can only be made with a credit card or PayPal, specifically NOT a debit card, but I used a debit card last year and that’s what’s on my account for the renewal. This will be fun.

Maybe it’s that then. I always have an aversion to paying for flights or anything overseas with my debit card, prefer the protection I get from the credit card, so that’s probably why I’ve not noticed anything.

Oh my god I’m just remembering the total hassle I had trying to pay for post-season stuff when I originally just had the regular season a couple of seasons ago*. Utterly ridiculous state of affairs.

*(obviously this season and last I’ve bought the full shebang in anticipation of a deeps Bears playoff run)

Huh, my account has just updated to say I now have access until 1st August 2018, so I guess payment worked? My debit card is listed as a credit card under “payment type” so maybe they don’t realise a difference. Can’t check my account though since I don’t use it anymore and haven’t got one of those pin sentry things… Hope they come good and get the Fire app back working for September though. Also noticed they now don’t have any archive games?

Oh yeah, that’s rubbish, hadn’t noticed that - I only have 2016 games and a placeholder for the HoF game. I’d assume it’s just that they’re rolling it out gradually, and there’ll be older games there soon… but idk why it wouldn’t just be the same files running through a newer programme/service? Not exactly an expert on these things though.

At least you’re up and running! Hopes for Detroit this season?

Despite the usual pre-season hype, I’m actually pretty down on their chances this year. I think the defence will be a hot mess, and I don’t see a lot of reasons to be high on the offence outside of Stafford’s usual heroics and hopefully Abdullah actually being a factor. Will be a shame to fall back into irrelevance after making the playoffs (just) last year, but I can easily see a .500 season.

Too late for any tips I know, sorry, but curious if you lasted through to the end of the trial process?

I got through the first two weeks. Not sure how my results stacked up. It seemed like I was getting a lot of errors, but largely positional.
I had a family thing this last weekend and warned them I’d be short of time. I submitted half of what they had asked for and have yet to hear anything back. I’m hoping they’ll take my plans into consideration. I gave them a full week of notice and they said in previous mails that if they have the notice, that’s usually ok.
All told though, it did consume all of my free time.
Do they let you do the job on a week on week off basis?
I’m not doing it for need of the money, so need to retain some of my free time!

Yesss. Say what you like about Jay Cutler but the league is a funnier place with him in it.

lol this is weird. the ‘TOUCH DOWN’ one is funny in particular.

Odd bunch of teams they’ve picked… or are they the ones coming to the UK this year?

Exactly that.

First episode of hard knocks was… well, hard knocks. Quite like watching it as ‘live’ as possible, keep up with cuts etc in real life. The bit at the start was a bit odd - I get that’s where he came from, but isn’t he a multi millionaire now? I know some older folks get stubborn about not wanting to change where they live etc, but it still seemed odd. ‘My grandma and all the kids still live in a cockroach ridden shack!’. Then there’s all the previous history of Jameis - he came across really likable, but just can’t get on board with it, for obvious reasons.

Pre-season games are here!!! Anything of particular interest? Aside from your own team’s games. The usual rookie QBs/QB battles for me, not too much else, although I might tune into a Bucs game if I get invested in a fringe roster guy from hard knocks.

Bills have done some important sounding but ultimately lateral trades and have swapped Sammy Watkins and Ronald Darby for Jordan Matthews and EJ Gaines from the Eagles and Rams respectively.

Also I saw the Bears V Broncos preseason game. For me the bigger story than Trubisky being OK was Glennon being utterly horrible. Looking forward to the worst QB controversy ever when Trubisky has his first horrorshow.

Lovely fake play by the Bengals, with additional “team-mates wipe each other out” action.

Rams surrounding Goff with weapons… I hope he’s actually alright. I don’t need him to be amazing, just okay would do. I just want to be able to watch the Rams and feel like they have a chance in a few games.

Is that too much to ask?

Isn’t the controversy going to be if Trubisky looks ok/good and glennon continues to stink the place out? If Trubisky looks bad/unready, they just won’t play him, they’ll stick with glennon until he’s plays himself out of the team, then switch to Sanchez and repeat until late season, when Trubisky might come in for a few games to see where he’s at. If Glennon is bad but the bears still have a 50-50 record due to defense and running game, that might be enough to get Trubisky in if he’s shining in practice.

The Bills stuff was a bit … odd. I get that it’s a new head office and out with the old, but why get rid of your younger, more talented players? I like to move for LA, even if Watkins only plays 5-6 games, it should let hem have a better look at Goff with at least some quality to throw to/open up the pitch. Bit ballsy from the eagles - last season they had no wide receivers, and now they think they have so much they can trade their previous best performer? But Darby is real nice addition.
