Don’t really get this from a Seahawks POV, why would they want this circus to come to town? They’ve got one of the best WR tandems in Metcalf and Lockett (one of whom is turning into a superstar this year), a bunch of useful WR role players, plus proven chemistry and a winning formula. Brown is a known agitator and distraction even if you ignore all his legal stuff, just ask the Raiders. I think the chances of him completely sinking the season are much higher than the chances that he makes them Superbowl favourites.

And yeah, they’re currently fun for neutrals to root for, this would reduce that considerably.

As a non-neutral - totally agree. Need a pass-rusher more than anything else. And maybe an upgrade on Tre Flowers at corner. Otherwise one of Brees, Rodgers or (ugh) Brady will be fucking us up in the playoffs.

Assume it’s similar thinking to the Chiefs adding Bell even though they really dont need him - an assumption that the more talent you add to your roster the higher ceiling you have as a team. (Not suggesting that signing Bell is anywhere near as problematic as signing Brown btw. The comparison is strictly on the basis that both teams hardly needed the player in question). Plus NFL coaches seem to have an obsession with rehabilitating “troubled” players, like it adds another skill to their resume.

Completely agree with you that it’s a potential disaster move which would be far more likely to sink their season than put them over the top. The only vaguely logical football-based explanation I can think of is that Seattle know their defense is a dumpster fire and they’re simply going to have to outscore their opponents every week. I guess adding another talented WR does help out that objective as the season progresses even if they weren’t struggling to achieve it in the first place.

The standard Belichick move isn’t it, signing some talented malcontent to give the team an extra dimension down the stretch. Would rather they gave Josh Gordon another go personally but the circumstances are obviously very different.

That’s crazy! For reference, the fastest Tyreek Hill has run with the ball this year is 21.25 mph, and there’s only 12 players ahead of him all year.
