But!
Canvey isn’t desolate/bleak but it’s quite run down and grim so might not be what you’re after. The abandoned jetty is good though

Or Dungeness.

Dead artist Derek Jarman has a little cottage there which is viewed as an art installation even though that wasn’t his intention. I think thats what makes it cool.

I used to go fishing at Dungeness with my dad when I was a kid. The sea got deep real quick so you could cast off from the shore and catch cod, mackerell and all sorts.

I’ll be honest, £35 doesn’t sound like a great deal for a bespoke power supply (Apple charge about £70 or something) but it depends on how much the kit cost you total?

Also, how did the current one die? I mean your statutory rights are still in effect and if you’ve only had it a year or so totally contact them and ask for a replacement because this sort of thing shouldn’t just break without something major going on.

There are some really bleak stretches on the Isle of Sheppey but it’s a bit local shop for local people on there, I wouldn’t recommend visiting unless you had to.

Likewise, the stretch of the North Kent Marshes from Cliffe in the south west to the Isle of Grain in the south east is properly desolate - although unlike Sheppey I would recommend.

Assuming that this is for a filming location or photo shoot for something else, then I think Dungeness is maybe a bit too familiar to other people. The landscape there is stunning rather than bleak, and some of the architecture down there is really interesting. Great as a place to visit, maybe not if you’re looking for a backdrop for an end-of-the-world vibe.

My suggestion would be one of the beaches on the north coast of Sheppey. One side of my family all come from there and so I know it pretty well. Anywhere from Minster to Leysdown to Eastchurch probably has what you want.

I second Newhaven. Easily the worst seaside experience for the unassuming visitor!

The Isle of Sheppey is a bit like Royston Vasey, in my experience…

I wouldn’t deny that. People from Sittingbourne have to feel superior to someone…

Oh, god, yeah. I had to go to Sittingbourne a year or so ago. Had to then get a taxi out to the middle of nowhere for a wedding. But had some time to kill in between. How can a small town have two Wetherspoons? One looked awful and was catering for the absolute scum of the earth, the other was the “posh” one, catering for people who are at least capable of stringing actual sentences together.

could have a winner here i think, warden point looks good. wouldn’t be able to use those ruins but otherwise looks pretty much what i’m after

Maybe dial the classism back a bit, eh?

I grew up in Chatham, by the way.

So, yeah… Either that gives me no right or every right to say what I like. I’m not sure.
