The beat multiplayer game outside of Overwatch and Apex Legends (Duck Game) is coming to switch

No for real, its amazing fun online or local.

Yup FF7 is a classic, and not as tough as most RPGs.
Also has some very iconic scenes and storyline etc.
Plus if you do fing it tough going these remasters allow you to turn on modifieres on the fly to buff your party up etc.

Where you up to in 9?
Played it before?
I’m well into it and it seems very linear to how I experienced it all those years ago.
Still brilliant though!

Hate those two shits!

I bought Stardew Valley based on the glowing reviews on here and thought it was incredibly boring. I’d be sure you like that sort of game before shelling out.

Just got to the bit where you meet Kuja for the first time and get your ass handed to you by the captain person. Story’s definitely picking up, feel like it’s a slow start compared to the bombing run in FF7 and even FF8 (which in spite of starting in a school ups the ante pretty quickly) but the sequence on the air ship with the black mages was great, and thought that the place that Freya is from was also well put together. Freya is a badass too..

Never played it before so this is all new to me. FF7 I played more or less when it came out, FF8 when I was teen (never finished it through) and then got a Gamecube so that was more or less it for FF games. Except for Crystal Chronicles and Tactics Advance which I both loved.

I hope you do this because I’d be dead interested to see the perspective of someone coming at it with zero nostalgia. I have a feeling your experience would not be that positive however…

Yeah just not sure I get on with RPGs generally. I tried FFVI on my GBA thing, died in about 20 minutes because I had no idea what was going on. I’m a soft lad who really needs a tutorial for everything.

Brilliant.
Yeah that airship section is brilliant.
Vivi is probably the best ever FF character imo.
I’m onto probably what would have been the old Disc 3 but it still feels pretty linear to me. Some great characters and not as ‘dark as FF7 and 8’ generally.
8 was grand but the ‘draw’ system for magic was a total pain in the arse and made battle a bit of a slog at times.

I think the game actually does a pretty decent job of explaining the core mechanics via gameplay. Some of the more complex elements are really poorly explained though and some of the actual gameplay itself is just completely insane from a modern-day perspective in terms of coherence or just pure frustration. I absolutely adore it though.

Yeah never got my head around GFs and draw in FF8. Would definitely come back to it though to give it an other go.

As I say you can turn on the modifiers to basically one shot any fights if you just want to enjoy the story but 7 is pretty straightforward compared to most RPGs, 9 maybe even more so as the abilities are linked to your armour rather than 2 seperate systems.

Like @anon5266188 said I think FF7 is pretty friendly to newcomers, quite easy to pick up and the basics are well explained and/or intuitive. There’s some clumsy gaming outside of the battles which might be stumbling block and in the first boss fight there’s some dodgy translation that basically tells you to do the opposite thing than what you need to do :joy:, but generally speaking I think it’s alright. The more complex stuff isn’t well explained but you could get through the game never really delving into it. I’ve played a bit of FF6 and think that’s a lot harder to just pick up without prior knowledge of FF games or RPGs in general.
