A feature that really comes into its own when you use it to tickle your Eevee in Pokemon
Firewatch coming out 17th dec
Hey friends. The charming Yokuâs Island Express is down to ÂŁ16.99 in Argos: https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8624062
Right, Iâm calling it - Warframe is hot trash and I definitely hate everything about it.
- I donât understand the controls after hours of play.
- I donât get the weapons. Still have the same four I got when I booted the game up and I donât know why.
- I did an excavator mission tonight. This is the straw that broke the camelâs back. I kept getting new artifacts to mine but the tower things kept getting stuck at 1.20 left, halted. No idea why. I would defend them for ages but theyâd always get swarmed by a bunch of those cunts that stomp fire and I canât do any damage to them. It spawn a few new ones and if activate them but theyâd never finish! I had to quit out. Couldnât satisfy the criteria whatever that was.
- same for cetus. Got stuck in a corridor for a while whilst nothing happened. Quit out. Did the same again. I canât figure out what I am supposed to do, and when I went onto the wiki it said a lot Of shit I didnât understand about a Plain. Jesus, any game where you have to consult a fucking encyclopedia outside of the game is a pile not my idea of fun.
There was a glimmer of hope! I did a spy mission and found it really engaging. Whilst the two other dilshits ran about killing folk on a random area of the map I figured out on my own I needed to do these cool hacking things to open up vaults to get some shit out. I enjoyed that a lot, but it was a minor victory.
I guess Iâm not cut out for modern gaming. The experiences with Zelda and this, along with the crates in rocket league feel like a foreign language to me. I just donât get it. I think I utterly hate modern gaming.
Fuck it. Back to Picross.
Its not trash bruh
It makes me feel extremely old. It also just makes me want to play either Mario Kart or FIFA.
I mean, Iâm shit at those games too, but at least I feel like Iâm in control of whatâs going on.
Donât get disheartened mate. I think youâre surrounded by people in here whoâd largely feel the same.
I still struggle with free to play games and in game purchases. Iâve never opened a crate by buying a key in Rocket League and still had hours of fun with it. And I canât even do aerials properlyâŚ
Warframe is an extreme example from what I can tell. Itâs been incrementally built over an 8 year period adding system on top of system for established players, so if youâve not been there for the start then itâs going to be a steep learning curve.
I had many of the same issues for what itâs worth. My game kicked me out of a mission on Cetus saying Iâd failed for no reason I could ascertain, Iâm still using the same weapons and I donât get loads of what the game has thrown at me.
I didnât have the issues with Zelda that you did, but I think thatâs because I at least played a couple of games with RPG elements in them in the last gen. I took ages to adapt to those ways of leveling up over a period of time.
But the Switch has loads of experiences that donât have all that modern guff in there, so just park Warframe and move on. I have. Loads of the best games on the system can be played with 2 buttons.
Bayonetta 2. Horizon Chase Turbo. Yokuâs Island Express. Sonic Mania. FAST Racing Neo. Inside. Mario Kart 8. Steamworld Dig 2. Picross. Ikaruga. ARMS. Gorogoa. Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. Celeste. And Smash next week.
Even DOOM, Wolfenstein 2, LA Noire, Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2 etc are just glorified PS2 experiences in terms of controls and complexity.
Buy one of them and fall in love with gaming and the system again. Youâve just had a bad bunch of experiences in a row.
Tl;dr version
Most free to play games are absolute garbage and work on the same addictive, shallow gameplay loop that gambling does. Theyâre a pox on gaming^
(^ Though I know that due to spiraling development costs, theyâre a sensible way of earning ongoing staff salaries. But most are just targeted at kids dishonestly, have unfair dead ends requiring financial outlay or mask shite gameplay.)
I love this version of the Internet.
Letâs not say anything hastily that weâll regret later. Thereâs one clear exception to this rule.
Nioh wasnât that hardâŚ
I wish I knew the game you meant. Haha
I can do that for you at some point, friend
knew I could count on a man like you
Iâve put 100s of hours into it on PS4. I loved it the grind, but itâs very much a game you need a manual for. I watched a bunch of Youtubes before I got it and then once it sunk inâŚthat was it.
Iâve not played it on Switch yet though. I feel like it needs to be on a controller to work as itâs a really crazy game.
