Where’s the option for “possibly my bag but there’s too many games”

i would also vote for a ‘stop telling me about all these new games i want’ option.

I was obsessed with 2 and went back and watched all the cutscenes for 1 off the back of that. So I feel like I won’t get much from actually playing the game now?

I got an email this week from Nintendo saying
‘22 games on your watch list are on sale’

Really liked 2.
Did you do the dlc?
Apparently it plays like a whole new game, couldn’t face it myself after 100s of hours in main game.

Played XC2 Torna and thought it was a 5/10 at best so ahm oot.

Nah never did, intended to and heard good things, but my backlog was big enough. Same with the BotW DLC.

Hmmmm, well story wise maybe not. But it’s more about the music, scale of the landscape and art direction of the scenery in truth. So, maybe?

Hold on a sec, I’m sure it will be quick and easy for @vamos to add that option in the poll for you!

For those who don’t know what Xenoblade is, it’s a big JRPG that came out near the end of the Wii’s life.

It was a cult hit after a campaign to get it released in the West was eventually successful.

It was popular for a lot of innovative ideas at the time. Combat was all real time and 3D, one of the first to not be turn based. It also had vast landscapes that never loaded and had insane draw distance. It married that to an incredible soundtrack designed to loop endlessly. It modernised fast travel, skill trees and quests that completed without you needing to return to the giver. You’ll wander through areas with monsters in 50 levels above you, so you knew you could return in the end game. It also reminded a lot of people of FF7, where it was blatantly an epic Japanese game but had a distinctly western vibe, here re-enforced by the voiceover being by a cast of unusual British regional accents.

The game takes place on two warring, mammoth titans and the landscape sometimes changes as they move around. To beat it, it’s probably 70 hours. I think I took over 90 as I kept being distracted by side missions and gorgeous scenery.

I’ve no idea if it’s held up, but the team who made this heavily inspired BOTWs approach to world building and indeed helped with the landscape design itself.

If it’s £20, I’ll be buying it again for sure. If it’s £40-50, I won’t be.

Can’t believe you’re not buying it!!

I light buy it, I never really got into botw though… ~40 hours in but haven’t played for months

Well, I’ve gone to replay it in the past and just didn’t know if I had 75 hours in me to do it again, given a backlog of about 30 games. I am bloody tempted though, even if it’s just to replay the first half. Many of my favourite memories and locations are from the opening half of the game. The back half is amazing too but not so charming, more epic.

agonising. i made a solemn vow to myself that i wouldn’t buy another game until i finished dqxi. it has been a long four months or so.

Can’t believe @vamos ’ Xenoblade poll didn’t take the form of:

Xenoblade Chronicles:

  • I’m really feeling it
  • I’m not really feeling it to be honest
  • I might be feeling it at some point

Stick with DQ - it’s amazing tbh.
100%ed it and loved it all.
Now they have the engine working on Switch I hope we get the next DQ also.

Currently about half way through Ni No Kuni and have Batman: Enemy Within lined up after that (though that should be quite short)
By time I’m near end of NNK there should be a direct out and I’ll scope sales then also.

Played the version they put out on the 3DS… Really enjoyed it, but always felt like it would work better with a proper controller and never finished it. Defo up for getting Switch version if it’s not mega bucks.

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition and Bravely Default 2 are gonna to be RPG heaven for Switch this year.
Might also get the new Shin Megami Tensei this year if we’re lucky.

Ok I’ve got no desire to read this full thread so a few questions:

Is it worth getting the switch over the lite?
Will 4 year olds get a grip (pun intended) with the controllers?
What games are essential?
What accessories are needed for portable playing?

No need to read this one, just read the two completed ones

oh yes definitely going to finish it - has been a joyous journey thus far. ni no kuni is on my list of games that i would like to play, but in all likelihood will not have time for. i also skipped luigi’s mansion, witcher 3 and astral chain in the late 2019 game glut and am yet to succumb to all the fire emblem praise.
