I’ll play it if it’s on the NES online service thing but I’m not paying £80 for it or whatever the fuck they try to flog it for

Does seem like one for the real dweebs (at least, the anniversary package does)

Party on, Marth.

Horace impressions from 1st couple of hours - solid platforming, with some interesting mechanics (mostly being able to walk on walls/ceiling - has some cool moments, though the screen reorienting can be a bit jarring). Jumps into homages to other (non-platforming) games as part of the story every now and then, which is entertaining. Story interesting/kinda funny so far… But some of the cut scenes are way too long. The first 45 min made it feel like the game was going to be all story with a couple of minutes of light platforming here and there. Could do with the story being integrated into the gameplay more. But the gaps between cut scenes does get bigger after the first bit. And the platforming gets a lot trickier (instant respawns and frequent checkpoints a +). Feeling more 8/10 than 10/10 so far. Definitely worth a tenner in price.

$5.99 for a NES game, when the rest of them are going for free. Bit of a joke

To be fair, the others they’ve just dumped ROMs into an emulator. This one’s needed localisation - I don’t begrudge them charging something for that.

yeah, seems like a wee bit of work was needed on this one; they couldn’t just add the ROM of the Japanese release straight up on the EU/NA NSO thing i guess.

Wonder if someone will be able to rip the ROM and get it to work on nes emulators or if it’s been recompiled/reworked into something quite different.

My best guess from what they’ve shown and from Mario 3D All Stars is that it’ll be the original Japanese ROM, but with LUA scripts used to control the enhancements and do the localisation. Probably more reliable than reworking the original source.

Not top tier Bright Eyes BT still good.

Yeah reckon that’s prob what’s under the hood. It was people being able to pull the ROM of Star Fox 2 from the new mini that made me think of the possibility.
Patched ROMs using the new English script will be out in no time then. Emulators like nes mini will have the rewind features etc.
If the big fancy box had included a physical copy of a Fire Emblem All Stars I’d be all over it.

FINALLY

Had an odd experience with the e shop… Got an email telling me that something on my wishlist was on sale. Ni no Kuni, wrath of the white witch now being 8 quid.

Brilliant I thought, headed over to the e shop an hour or so later and its still listed as fifty quid… Is this a super fast sale and I’ve missed it or has the email gone out early or what? Anyone had this kind of experience before?

started link’s awakening, not really sure why. can barely be arsed.

It was very cheap on the US shop about a month ago, I nearly went through the process of changing regions back then but didn’t in the end. Let me know if it does drop, been on my list for ages (though a massive RPG is literally the last fucking thing I need right now)
