think thats why I like THPS so much. 2 min run. boom. so many opportunities whilst im sat waiting around just to pick it up and have a quick blast.

other games you’d spend running to/from a cut scene or putting a marker on a map to set off somewhere.

Still waiting for mine to arrive, but I’m looking forward to it. I think a lot of reviews focussed on how the linearity was a bummer after BOTW, and I guess that might be true for new fans, but for everyone else the linearity might be a lot easier to stomach/more novel with BOTW in hand. Offers something completely different.

I’m quite looking forward to the linearity of it. My big problem with open world games is that while it’s fun to be able to explore all over, it’s harder for a games storyline to pull you in if you spend hours doing side quests etc, between the main story path.

For example, in non Nintendo land, that’s why Metal Gear Solid 5 didn’t have nearly as big an impact on me as 3, despite the hugely increased possibilities and ways of playing in 5.

Having not played a mainline Zelda game between Majoras Mask and Breath of the Wild, will be interesting to see how I fare with Skyward Sword.

Just cannot decide on whether or not to buy Skyward Sword. Mostly due to this thread.

i’ll put in a couple of hours tonight and post a scathing review later, if it helps

Yes please. Otherwise I’ll end up ordering a copy that I can pop next to the copy of THPS 1&2 that I’ve played once.

My housemate was playing it in the living room yesterday and it looked very dated

First 3 dungeons done in Skyward Sword.
The Lanaryu area and mine is pretty huge eh.
Having a really good time with it.
In hindsight it’s probably not any less linear than Ocarina or MM but obvs Twilight Princess and Wind Waker are more open and BOTW is proper open world.
Think the thing that breaks any illusion of nonlinearity in Skyward Sword is that the hub world isn’t actually physically connected to the rest of the map and you can’t dander from one area into another. Obvs this is part of the story though.

100% this. My wife gave birth a week ago, so having a more structured Zelda to dip into while the little guy is drifting off has been a welcome distraction.

Our copy of Skyward Sword doesn’t arrive til tomorrow but I’m off with the kids today…So we’ve been doing the Champions Ballad DLC on BOTW. God damnm trying to do that spikey Indiana Jones like shrine (Stop/Start?) with both my joycons now seemingly in drift hell…infuriating!

I think I know the one you mean. Must have attempted it 50 times. Maybe more.

I’m really going to have to actually fix these joycons. I have everything I need but they weren’t behaving too bad before so I cba

Think I might have to park Spiritfarer (4 hours in) to play Skyward Sword

I bit the bullet and did my Splatoon ones this weekend after buying the new sticks about 3 months ago. Best decision.

L3 to roll, nintendo? that’s insane!

Something recently about jamming cardboard in there… worth a shot :man_shrugging:

skyward sword is still a slow, boring and janky as fuck wii game. the combat still doesn’t work right and you’re constantly having to break what you’re doing to hold L and reposition the camera. that is, if you’re on a pro controller and have no choice because your joycons don’t work. just absolutely no fun to play at all.

and even though thank fuck you can skip cut scenes now, still nobody will ever stfu and just let you play the game.

8/10
