Two listens in (via Youtube) and really digging Snares - heading for par with An Object and Everything…that’s some hat-trick…(do like the early stuff too)…

One gripe…why have the vinyl with no download code…seems pretty annoying…as its not on Google Play I’ll probably end up buying on cd instead…so at least I can rip into the library and playlists…

I’ve somehow never really listened to them before (I might have given one of their albums a very distracted listen once), but I’m starting to really like this new album and definitely should have given it a vote in January. I kept putting it on when I couldn’t think of what else to listen to, and maybe about ten listens in it finally clicked and all of the melodies and hooks are jumping out now.

The opening sequence is so good, especially "Stuck in the Changer"

This will be one of my AOTY contenders - 7 listens in now - loving the MBV-ish ambient washes jusxtaposed against the gripping and frenetic bursts of punk-ish indie rock and in Primitive Plus a beautiful album closer -plaintive vocal, and warm bass stabs pitched in the midst of gloriously heady noise.
This album is a rare combination of energising and dreamy. A step up from the under-rated An Object

  • but in a similar vein. Lovely stuff.

Going to listen to the new album later and looking forward to it!

Might get a ticket for their Manc show. Saw them at Scala way back in 2009/10 (can’t quite remember) and they were great.

Got 2 physical tickets for Bristol next week for sale. Made a balls up of travel plans and can’t make it now unfortunately. Looking for £15 the pair and I’ll throw in free postage.

Can’t make this generous offer but I saw the guys in Brighton on Wednesday…Hope & Ruin seemed the ideal initimate space for them…it was super-fun, energetic stuff…and as a 2 piece they make a good job of replicating the expansive sound for the live setting…2nd time I’ve seen them and if it doesn’t quite match the excellence of the recorded work - particularly the latter more nuanced and textured ambient-tinged stuff - they are undoubtably one of the most engaging bands around.
Very genial people to chat to after too - no pretence.

Show tonight in Bethnal Green. Looking forward to it.

Yes. I have spoken to bands after gigs very few times, but Dean from No Age just seemed like a very approachable guy so went and had a chat with him.

Fantastic show in Bethnal Green last night. Crowd was pretty wild for a Wednesday, even the drunk teenager trying to make the whole show about him couldn’t ruin the vibe, though he was trying as hard as he could.

Personal stand out was Separation which sounded great, but it was a good and varied setlist including every new ripper from Snares. Shout out to the guy who paid Dean four quid to play Ripped Knees.

It was well good.

Got cash out especially to buy a t-shirt and they’d sold out of smalls. :sob:

And mediums! :disappointed_relieved:

Also, £10 minimum card spend meant I came home with several bags of unopened crisps in my pockets.

Wish I was seeing them on this tour. Here’s a really good article on the band and their artwork.

And a blast from the past interview with the same artist!

They were properly great. Was expecting it to be mainly new stuff but they played a good mix. Enjoyed the anecdotes too
