Piecing together what people have said on TMS, he was born in the UK, when his dad (Kevin) was playing for Northamptonshire, lived in Zimbabwe, and then moved to the UK to go to secondary school. He’s been playing for Surrey since he was 13, with his brother Tom. He has another brother who plays for the MCC juniors as well.

not sure the solution for a test team filled with left handers prone to collapse in test conditions because of the number of white ball specialists is to bring in a left handed white ball specialist

We’re a bit of a mess at the moment, huh? So much talent but so many problems up and down the order. Collapses, dropped catches, aging bowlers, strange team selections.

Much more than Rashid, it’s epitomised for me by Buttler being in the team. I love the guy, he’s an incredible short-form talent, but is he a specialist test number 7 batsmen? No, he’s not, partly because he’s not cut out for it, and partly because such a thing shouldn’t exist. Moeen is a better option, averages about the same with the bat, has 133 test wickets. (Edit: Took so long to write this Buttler was dismissed in the mean time)
