Yup, this album is excellent.

Saba - Care For Me

A wonderful hip hop album as an extended meditation on mortality and loss

New War - Coin

Post punk, noise, no wave, bits sound like Suicide. Hard to pin down - has quite a few changes of pace

Pushed into the grower of the year for me

A bit biased because I put this out, but I put this out because it’s one of the best things I heard all year; fragile, lofi, dark-ish folk music.

Waaaay somebody else that has given this the attention it deserves. Thought I might be the only one

I would have gone with Hilary Woods but as that’s already taken I think this is worth a mention…

Cult Party - And then there was this sound. Incredible folk prog stuff. Definitely worth a try for fans of microphones, mount eerie and Bill Callahan.

Ooo, this sounds good, thanks!

This has been my slow burn album of the year. Really wasn’t that taken with it when I first heard it. But a few commutes where I needed to work and wanted something quiet on in the background, and its subtle brilliance crept up on me.

Dialect’s record that Forest Swords released on his label is really great. Touches of Tim Hecker or the more melodic bits of Ben Frost, maybe. Ecology-core.

Queen Kwong — Love Me to Death

(with thanks to @NeuronsLikeBrandy for bringing it to my attention in the first place)

That mental Cupcakke album.

Crikey this sounds amazing, thank you!

“Beastland” by Author & Punisher, because literally nothing could sound like this. Beware, headphone listeners - you might freak on first pressing play.

It really is. With each listen I seem to come away with a new favourite song from it. I had Youth Novels when it came out and liked it at the time, but this album has won me over. Saw her in Belfast earlier this year and that pointed me to ‘so sad so sexy’ - gonna pick up a ticket for her Brixton show.

Yeah. That’s excellent. Were you at their Rough Trade East gig too?

Sadly not. Saw them at the Garage and Fuzz Club Eindhoven though. I’ve bought a ticket for the 100 Club show next year as well.
