Non-fiction Week: What are your favourite autobiographies?

Of Walking In Ice by Werner Herzog: he has a full autobiography that I’ve yet to read, but this is a gem of its own. A diary of his journey walking from Munich to Paris in the depths of winter, it’s poetically written and a great insight to the mind of someone whose perspectives I always find interesting.

In Pursuit Of The English by Doris Lessing, who published several volumes of memoir & autobiography (as well as fictionalising a lot of her life in her other work). She’s one of my favs, especially when it comes to her observations of other people. This one is a great example of that, an engaging snapshot of postwar London from when she was a new arrival to the country.
