Lost 2-1 at Truro yesterday. 600 mile round trip and only two subs. Right up against it from the off.

The table makes for worrying reading. We simply have to get one win at the very least to stay in touch with the sides above us from our next two league matches. If not, as loathe as I am to say it, I think the manager will be gone. He looks defeated on the touchline before a ball’s been kicked - if that’s transmitting to the players in the dressing room we’re not going to get out of this mess.

What are they like at home? Are they a bit aggy with away fans?

(We are away to them next week. Am highly tempted not to go as they are top of the league and we are… not, and I’ve heard things about them, but it would be a travesty to miss out on potentially seeing the Wealdstone Raider and I am trying to groundhop as much as possible this season)

I’m pretty sickened by our fans at the moment. The 99.9% of her fans who didn’t racially abuse the Haringey goalkeeper and defender are burying their heads in the sand. Saying they didn’t hear anything or that there were no accusations before they were losing. As if these players are playing on the playground and have never been losing before.

Then there’s people are prematurely angry at the FA at the possibility of sanctions against us. We deserve sanctions. Our fans racially abused opposition players. It’s not acceptable. I hope we get punished and the club accepts it on the chin, and us supporters make it clear to these cunts that any hate speech is unacceptable at our club. We’re meant to be a family club.

I doubt we’ll be very magnanimous (is that the right word?). Unfortunately Yeovil isn’t the most progressive place in the world.

I went to see them play Woking last season, 1300 at the game and it was fine.

Tbh, the likelihood of any aggro is very small, you’ll be able to get a drink without an issue and the overwhelming majority of their fans are decent guys.

They have a small minority who, if even remotely goaded, overreact - start foaming at the mouth and want to ‘dish out slaps’. But, as @anon76851889 says upthread, it’s never their fault and the other club’s fans are ‘asking for it’.

To be fair to the club itself, they’re very good at trying to stamp any kind of bother out and they do have a very sizeable family following.

Don’t get me started on the sodding Raider though.

When are you moving to the new ground? Had some great trips to Bootham Crescent and really going to miss it when it’s gone :frowning:

I see a couple on the Kempster forum are talking about how this is where “PC nonsense” has led us and “the race card”.

:+1:

@pervo - just to back what he_2 says, you’ll be fine so long as you treat it the way you’d treat any other game, and please don’t buy into “the Raider” nonsense - that’s exactly the kind of crap that encourages their dickhead minority.

State of some of those comments.

A redefinition of the word racism by the PC Bridgade, as claimed by one, is something of a stretch. And I don’t recall hearing any racist abuse at any of the 650 odd games I’ve been to either, but I’m not naive enough to think it doesn’t happen.

Gotta say, everything I’ve read on the response of Darren Sarll and everyone connected with Yeovil seems to have been bang on.

Actually, on a similar note, don’t know if it’s still up but worth checking out the official Essex Senior League twitter feed from the weekend and their coverage of Stansted v Sporting Bengal…

Ooft. Imagine thinking that was something worthy of commenting on in any circumstances, much less in that particular fixture. And then then the doubling down!

I see the Kempster board’s now progressed to calls for Harringay to be thrown out. I know that board can be a bit luddite at times, but that thread’s really pushing the boundaries.

:flushed::roll_eyes:

On the Yeovil fansite Facebook group the fact that the game is being replayed apparently means there was absolutely no racism. Also the two people who have been arrested have not been charged yet because there is absolutely no proof of it, not because they’ve got 24 hours to decide whether to charge them or not.

Facebook.

I lowered myself to posting on Hendon’s page this afternoon in response to a stream of utter bullshit.

Props to the decent folk at Yeovil. Narrow minded shit like that just reinforces how far we have to go here in England before taking the moral high ground.

It’s just so sad. It seems like there’s so many people that find it inconceivable that 2 people out of 600 said something racist, and that BAME players on the opposition team made up accusations because they couldn’t cope with losing to a team two divisions higher than them.

At home against Boston United, so come on down!

Doesn’t look as if it’s too far away now. Last of the seats are being installed at the moment and all the facilities are being done up - they’re carrying out some test events after New Year, so reckon it’ll be spring, barring any problems.

I mean, it’s looks all swanky and brand-new, but it’s all a bit…generic Lego stadium at the moment. Did raise an eyebrow when they tweeted a picture of a nice-looking curved-roof stand a few weeks ago, but that just turned out to be a picture of the groundsman’s busmans-holiday at a stadium in Croatia

Not relishing having to sit at the new place, far too used to standing in the Longhurst stand now. The longer we can hold on to Bootham, the better - genuinely felt a bit sad leaving for what could be the last time on Saturday.

Some good photos from Whyteleafe v Chippenham at the weekend (not mine)…

Whyteleafe had another game abandoned last night due to a serious injury. They’ve only played 4 league games this season and have 5 games in hand.

Dulwich Hamlet’s FA Cup game against Carlisle United is going to be live on BBC2 on Friday 8th November.

On telly! Feel sorry for any travelling Carlisle supporters, though.

Hayes & Yeading’s game at home to Oxford United on telly too, that would have been us if we hadn’t defended like charlatans against them (and then beaten Poole).

Those watching on telly will have a better view of the Dulwich game than about half of those inside the ground will. Good luck to them.
