Northumberland

Yes and yes!

We had a cottage in a pretty rural setting a little inland from the Holy Island, with a great view of Lindisfarne castle.

Went to:

Alnwick (the bookshop, gardens and lilidorei, didn’t get round to the castle)
Craster (walk to Dunstanburgh and back to the Jolly Fisherman)
Holy Island (full day between the tides, castle, village and beach)
Seahouses (twice, as had to return to the tat shop because my kids got jealous of what each other had bought)
Bamburgh (pub, playpark and beach)
Warkworth (went round the castle)
Beadnell (beach)
Low Newton by the Sea (The Ship Inn)
Wooller (for dinner)
stopped at a loat of random beach access points as well

And that was a week - felt we barely scratched the surface, will definitely be back. Kids loved it too.

Sounds brilliant. There’s so much more to see as well - eg heading inland to Hadrian’s Wall.

If you’re staying closer to Newcastle next time, then you’ve got also Durham and Beamish, as well as Tynemouth/Whitley Bay at the end of the Metro.

Sounds like a decent week!
