I had some of those. Assumed they were made by Britains, the same company that made the medieval knights figures, but initial research suggests possibly not:

As an aside, I have a tiny scar on my cheek to this day from when another kid stuck a Britains armoured horse figure into my face when I was five years old. Toys used to be made sturdy in those days…
