“No art passes our conscience in the way film does, and goes directly to our feelings, deep down into the dark rooms of our souls. The demons are innumerable, arrive at the most inappropriate times and create panic and terror… but I have learned that if I can master the negative forces and harness them to my chariot, then they can work to my advantage.
Lilies often grow out of carcasses’ arseholes.”

I’d throw my hat in for Summer With Monika for a good starter for Bergman

Think Wild Strawberries was my first Bergman.

As good a place as any, I guess.

This is about Le Mans 66/Ford v Ferrari:

The longest films I’ve seen at the cinema (after today):

The Irishman (209 minutes)
The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (200 minutes)
Winter Sleep (196 minutes)
Titanic (195 minutes)
King Kong (the Peter Jackson one) (187 minutes)

I think Avengers: Endgame and The Wolf of Wall Street might be the only other films I’ve seen at the cinema that are three hours or longer.

All dreadful

Bit grumpy to see The Irishman isn’t on Netflix until the 27th. Why was I seeing all these headlines about cinemas not showing it? Surely most of the money is made in the opening weeks and film fans like the cinema. Basically can’t believe this is really going to harm things that much.

this is mine

there were intervals obviously

Watched The Good Liar. What a load of shite but it is dead fun

Double bill of Vox Lux and Last House on the Left tonight. Wish me luck.

I was gonna watch Vox Lux last night but ended up spending too long trying to sort a sink so ended up watching The Family Stone…

I’m not expecting much of it tbh, just wanna hear scott’s music as intended

The Good Liar is quite the ride, eh.

The Irishman

Boy does this get bleak in the final stretch. It’s very good.

Interested to hear what you make of Vox Lux.

I think you’ll hate it. Plus there isn’t a great deal of soundtrack till the end, from what I remember.

had this song stuck in my head at work

Vox Lux
Good lord, what a mess. A real shame too because there was half of a good film in there. I thought the opening was incredible. It’s been a long time since a film shit me up like that, especially right at the beginning, reminded me of Enter the Void. And then… the problems started, and then they kept on coming, heaped on top of eachother one after another. Hard to believe a film in this much of a mess could be released. Probably the highlight for me was the opening credits listening to Scott Walker does Philip Glass, that was a joy and his score was incredible throughout.
